If sources are to be believed, Lucknow lad Piyush Kapoor's stint on a talent hunt show has come to an abrupt end

If sources from Sony TV's " X Factor", are to be believed, contestant Piyush Kapoor has been voted out of the show. While no one is willing to go on record about this, because the episode will be aired only later this week, rumours suggest that Piyush, who hails from Lucknow, was voted out by his own mentor on the show, Sonu Nigam. Apparently Sonu did not like Piyush's performance and voted him out. Another judge on the show, Sanjay Leela Bhansali protested and argued with Sonu against his decision. But Sonu stood his ground and Piyush has had to walk out.

Piyush was in Lucknow just last week, and thinking aloud about the possibilities," he had said, "Live gigs really get me going. Besides that, I want to continue with my band for as long as possible. That's how my singing career started and I won't want to give that up any time soon." In fact, Piyush says he has a lot to thank his band for. "Being a member of a band lends you credibility. Since I have done so many live shows, I had enough practice of singing for long hours in front of an audience," he said.

But professional pluses aside, his band mates are more like family, said Piyush while in town. "They have always supported me and we will remain friends always. In the past also, when I auditioned for another show individually, they were fine with it. We are more like a family and each of us is happy about one another's success. There are no differences between us."
Show or no show, Piyush says he is pleased by the adulation that he's been got from the people around him. "The reception that I got this time in Lucknow was overwhelming. I felt like a celebrity," he added with a smile.
