A few weeks ago-Geet walked out on Maan because of the bitter things he said. She found refuge in her newly-sprung relatives' arms and closed down for recovery.
Only, she didn't recover- not until she felt maan around her.
Except, Maan wasn't Maan. Maan was Balwant. The driver and he gave us amazingly wonderful moments.
It started out as an exciting track..but then, disaster struck- execution faltered; Dialogues began to be repeated; and with each week, Maan's pag started growing in size.
Then there was the oh so awful track of Dev and his romance- of course, he can't stay far away with a young fresh girl in proximity can he?
Overall- i really liked this track till Geet had forgiven maan and the reunion had taken place. After that, it became forced.
The much hyped Con- was well..definitely not worth watching an entire episode full of something viewers were quite vocal about not wanting to watch.
The result is clear- failure of the track.
I'm sure everyone knows why it happened. But still the focus here is-
1. BAD EXECUTION
Every woman who watches this show watches it with some expectations. Expectations which see an inspiration in Geet. a Gutsy, sensible young woman who dearly loves her husband.
She, needless to say, was extremely happy when he came back and when she forgave him but except for the initial days and the letter episode- Geet's state of mind was left to multiple interpretations- which led to confusion and disliking and in some places out and out loathing for the poor character.
And what's to blame for this but awful execution?
This is what the team ended up doing- distancing their viewers from THE PROTAGONIST.
2. SCENES
Again, there was a draught of scenes that provided for romance in the track. The writers didn't seem to remember that with marriage, a relationship changes- grows, becomes more physical, sensual and loving. All we got were the same scenes in a different environment with worse clothing and barely convincing expressions.
3. PARALLEL TRACKS
Yes, we got a family track. I loved it. We got jugnu mama, we got lucky, lachhi and pammi-teji. We didn't need 2 characters at all- Dev and Nandini. They were not needed at all.
There is a central focal point that the makers refuse to acknowledge- NO ONE WANTS TO SEE DEV. PERIOD.
It is NOT the actor! IT is the character. WE DON'T LIKE HIM!
I LOVE Samir! he's a brilliant actor- and what has he been reduced to? A comic character who's given absolutely NO SPACE to grow. The only way we liked Dev was negative. But we would have accepted a positive or a gray one if it was etched convincingly. It wasn't. So it failed. and it will refuse to succeed till DEV becomes either negative OR Gray. A positive Dev is LOATHSOME.
WHAT we wanted we never got-
Pinky- Adi
Teji- Pammi
That was a development we would have LOVED to see. What did we see instead. Teji becoming a caricature of his own character. and along with Biji becoming one of the most irritating characters.
I doubt that was the intention
Again- GREAT actor! much loved by myself and most viewers.
But reduced and not given enough chance to do anything but make the same faces and say the same lines.
The central most FOCUS of the track and the only thing i really really loved was the letter
It was poetic, yes but it was well-directed. I liked it. And i can't remember anything much
CON
Oh dear. Was it a Con? or just a make out session?
The so-called maha-episode..wow..and what we saw in it was 10 minutes of the mail characters and the remaining minutes given to sideys no one WANTED to see
GEET
I say it twice, once more here- she was never a loud, crass, nagging woman. She wasn't. There's a HUGE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A BUBBLY GIRL AND A PSYCHO ONE. You showed Geet as hysterical with very little sense in her head.
Instead- maan was given relatively more focus, though his character also was damaged to a huge degree.
So- leave character consistency far away- there was barely any recognition with the Geet viewers had cried with, laughed with, laughed at with love and indulgence, and felt with. Where is she lost?
Who is this woman?
I don't know- does any one know the answer to that?
Anyway, FINALLY after being dragged for i feel a YEAR- the track ended and we have a new, exciting one.
But there's no point to it if it's also dragged in a cliched way.
What was different about this show was it's different execution of cliches.
I do NOT expect logic at all. Trust me- I know what fiction is about. BUT, I do expect SOME common sense that tells me the show is situated in a world I can relate to.
Things even laymen point out are given out in gross defect in the show- and seriously, those things canNOT be disguised by the mantle of fiction. That would be an insult to fiction.
Fiction isn't a disguise for lack of research into technicalities and the utter lack of any detail that made the show such a huge success.
TRP's are low- hmm i wonder why- maybe because
1. we are being shown 2 characters we don't WANT to see at all.
2. the main characters are now not relatable.
3. the direction is bad and all that's the saving grace is the chemistry of the lead pair
And i think it's not THAT that can fetch trp's for long.
I still have hopes from this track
The new vamp Pams looks good enough. Let's hope she's as clever as it seems.
Let's see what we see next.
What we utterly want to see
1. Maneet together facing everything.
2. Sensible, emotional drama that we saw in episodes like geet's revelations to maan; the return to hoshiyarpur episodes - things that connected us emotionally- to each other and the show.
3. NO DEV unless he's a NEGATIVE or a GRAY ONE!
4. Good execution of however simply the track proceeds!
5. Song sequences and comic relief
Sorry for the long rant 😆
No hard feelings- i love the show dearly!😆
About the EPi!
I can't find a fault till now.
All audience responses were anticipated.
There was balancing- jahan nakewl ke jaane ki news, wahan maanadi hug!
Mature Maneet convo- maan talking about his past!
Dev being as dumb as he is.
Dialogues are self-ironical :P
What i liked-
It seems pams knows the response she invokes in people- sadma!😆
Also- there was a hint of change- perhaps a comment on actress change or an oblique reference to a makeover! haha awesome na?
Maan-Geet convo
I loved that Geet asked maan in simple words- and in simpler words- WHAT DID YOU JUST DO
And he explained it to her with patience.
The dialogues were really good and practical- a man who loves his family- of course won't fight with his family over money and would like to keep things within the family.
Anger doesn't work where family is concerned.
And he says Geet taught him this!
I loved how another stream opened up- mommy left maan in bachhpan and then dev's mom helped. He says his anger will be his weapon. In fact, rash anger won't help but cool planned anger will.
Good- he just let it go for now, and now we shall see how he will go ahead, how they will go ahead!
ADI-MAAN hug!
Was beautiful! 2 brothers hugging...and what love. Such loyalty and dedication. I fell in love with the scene today!
Threat!
Adi ko threat kiya!
but adi showed it to the old hag eh? Hmph- he won't leave!
Lala Amar Nath Khurana and the house- A new beginning
Geet clears the cobwebs- a clean slate- while he's looking for food, she'll make the old house a home-where they can sit and eat and plan and sleep. New moments.
I liked how today maan included Geet when he talked about his past. he told her about his life- a side of maan we never knew, and according to him, a side that never came out till Geet came into his life.😃
DEV's consistent dumbness
He really is thick in the head na?
It shows. Good nandu is clever.
It's a crucial point- can't he change to gray or negative?
Will Dev believe ADi or throw him out of the house?
After a long time, I'm looking forward to monday's episode :)
Hope this standard is maintained- that with a healthy dose of romance is all we need.
Sensible mature and simple dialogues- realistic and deep- about roots and all!aww, maan is growing up! LOL
Please don't show comic relief at the expense of your leads though. Keep them cute, light-hearted but not caricatures. Really.
That's all!
Great work BARRY! *jhapkisses* You give us all of this- and I'll keep a healthy dose of those jhappiz coming!
love to all!
