Part Twenty- Eight

Khanak was enjoying their time in Shimla. Since the goons were probably nursing their injuries right now, she wanted to surprise Shantanu with a special dinner. She wanted to approach the subject of parenthood.

Gopi had admitted to her that she was planning to ask Daskish if he was ready on third anniversary. Both couples were career oriented as well as family oriented. It would be a tough task, but both girls were ready to approach their husbands about it.

Khanak put on an orange and pink combination sari with sleeveless blouse. She was flipping her still damp hair around when Shantanu emerged into the room.

"Hayee kya occasion hai Khanak?" You are looking so..," he trailed off as he took in the sight before him.

She tried her best not to blush and continued getting ready.

" Tell me Khanak, what is going on? I swear you haven't looked this hot in ages," he quipped.

She could not refrain any longer and broke into a blush.

"So you didn't think I was hot three years ago?," she inquired.

He straightened up and cleared his throat.

" Of course you did. Lekin aaj kuch aur hai," he insisted.

She turned to face him and pulled on his collar.

" I have a nice dinner planned and after that I was hoping we would have a nice night in," she hissed.

Shantanu's eyes widened.

Khanak was never this bold. She definitely had something in her mind today.

She then let go of him and backed up as if nothing had happened.

" Chalo aap ready ho jao. I don't want to be late," she stated nonchantly.

He was dumbfounded but went off to do what his wife wanted him to do. He got ready and suddenly felt her putting a blindfold over his eyes..

"Khanak what are you doing?," he exclaimed.

" I told you it's a surprise. Don't worry, I'll be holding your hand as we go there," she assured him.

She waved a hand in his face a few times before she was convinced he couldn't see anything. She tugged on his hand and he followed her directions. He tried to grab her by the waist as she locked the door.

"Stop it Shantanu!," she hissed.

" I can't see you Khanak," he said innocently.

"Haha, but you sure you know how to get me annoyed," she retorted.

He chuckled as she grabbed his hand and led him to the elevators.

They reached the fourth floor and walked down a hallway. There was a table set up for two with candlelight. She untied his blindfold. Shantanu was amazed to see the nice setup with a nice window view.

"Khanak wow, this is amazing! Kuch toh hai jo tum batana chahti ho," he teased.

"First let's start dinner. I'll tell you then," she said as she led him towards the table.

The waiter greeted them and got their drink orders.

Khanak began to get nervous a bit. She was afraid Shantanu would shoot down the idea completely. A series of random and silly notions came and went in her mind as they waited for dinner.

"Khanak kya hua? You are really quiet tonight. So what is the topic you wanted to discuss?," he inquired.

She smiled slightly.

She cleared her throat.

"The thing is we have been married for three years now. I think we need to add something new to the mix," she stated firmly.

He frowned.

"What did you have in mind?," he asked.

He hoped she wasn't bored with him.

She hoped he would take her seriously.

"Remember how long Khushboo Bhabhi and Akshay Bhaiya were married before Arushi came along?," she inquired.

He thought for a moment.

"It must have been a bit over two years. Khushboo Bhabhi complained Bhaiya wasn't giving her attention after the first year. Is this what it's about? You think I don't give you enough time? Khanak I had more than one motive for bringing you here. I wanted to make up for lost time," he quipped.

They stopped short as the waiter served dinner. Then they continued.

" Shantanu I understand that. But don't you think it's time we added onto the family?," she asked.

He stopped short.

" You mean you are ready to have a baby of our own?," he exclaimed.

She backed up to lean against the chair.

"If you aren't ready SK, it's fine. We can wait," she muttered.

He reached across and gripped her hand.

"No Khanak, if you are ready we can start trying," he stated.

She sighed in relief. They finished eating, Shantanu reached for Khanak's hand as suddenly the glass shattered with the sounds of bullets. They quickly ducked under the table.

"Yeh goons pecha kab chorenge?," Khanak exclaimed.

"Looks like we have to finish these two tonight if we ever want to live in peace," Shantanu declared.

" Are you ready Khanak for one more fight?," he asked.

"Yes I am Shantanu," she replied.

They crawled towards the doorway and stopped in the hallway. They turned both ways wondering if they should take the stairs or the elevator.

"Let's take the stairs. They are injured we can beat them back down if we take the stairs," Khanak declared.

They ran up the stairs to their room and grabbed a gun each and then headed back down

Naina and Boris were at the elevators the doors opened and they were surprised to see everything clear. The couple weren't there.

"Boris keep your eyes open. I want Khanak alive or dead," she declared.

"What about the lawyer?," he asked.

" We can use him. He is young and new in the field," she hissed.

They approached the room limping due to their injuries the day before. Suddenly a net dropped on the twosome.

They struggled for a bit before turning to see Khanak holding a gun at one end .

" You think you can get away with this Khanak?," Naina inquired.

" Your uncle died from an accident. I did not go there to kill him," she declared.

" You think I am stupid to believe that?," she exclaimed.

"Listen to her Naina. I went there to finish Munna Bhai. She was with me in Goa. Whatever she did was in self ' defense," Shantanu declared from the other end.

Naina looked to see Boris get loose and join Shantanu and Khanak.

Boris handcuffed her.

" I am from the Interpol," he said to Khanak.

Shantanu smiled.

"Thanks for your help Boris. Let's get her to her proper place now," Shantanu stated.

Khanak smiled brightly.

" How did you know he was good?," she asked.

Shantanu turned to her and said," Because he walked her right into our trap,"

The couple exchanged smiles before escorting Naina to the police.
