Gems from Kolkata-London onboard Just Dance

After the spectacular launch of the ultimate dance reality show Just Dance, the judges Farah Khan and Vaibhavi Merchant, scouted Kolkata and flew to London.

After the rocking auditions in New Delhi and short listing 15 best dancers from the nation's capital - Delhi, the action moved to Kolkata and London where the judges hunted for the best among the best.
In Kolkata, over 4000 contestants were auditioned but only 30 bagged the Just Dance Star certificate and ten were chosen to continue their journey ahead in the competition.

Being the first to audition, the 17-year-old Ankan impressed the judges with his contemporary dance form. Farah confessed to have had goose bumps while watching him. When he expressed that parents were not supportive and the fact that he now lives with his choreographer Tuban sir so that he can peruse his passion for dance, it shocked the judges. They encouraged him to study as well as follow his passion for dance.

When Abhash walked in with his funky look, he got a warning from Farah even before his performance, that she had seen many B-Boying dancers and she wanted to see something different from him. He lived up to her expectations with his popping and Micheal Jackson dance act. Vashist, who had donned silver paint all over his body for his robot dance, walked away with the Just Dance Star certificate.

The judges felt Rumpa's contemporary performance was mind blowing while the story of her life made them emotional. Vaibavi felt that Rumpa was prime example of a woman's strength who beats all odds. Tollywood dancer, Santosh made the judges jump in their seats with joy while Tanmoy's performance got them in splits. His fusion of belly dance cum classical act brought Vaibhavi on stage and Farah claimed that his belly dance was better than Katrina's in Sheila Ki Jawani!

The judges were entertained thoroughly when Rigzen Sherpa danced to Munni badnaam and Vireshwar performed on Sheila Ki Jawani. Hailing from a small town, the untrained dancer Sumit performed a fantastic modern contemporary dance on Kahan baitha hai khuda which touched the hearts of the judges and got them close to tears. It was an emotional and splendid performance. He got heap loads of praise for his act and dedication. Farah said she saw herself in him, as he had the hunger and passion to do something in life.

Though Swarali had injured her leg, she vowed the judges with her contemporary performance and finished it with a back bent walking on hands and feet! From Kolkata, the judges found fabulous contestants such as Soumita, Rumpa, Swarali, Ankan, Abhash, Aishwarya, Tushar and Sharmista.

Over to London, contestants came from all over the United Kingdom and other European nations to participate in the competition. Yuhana from Romania proved to everyone that dance has no boundaries, knows no language as she surprised the judges with her love for Bollywood. She sang Tujhe mein rab dikhta hai in opera style and claimed it was her Pakistani boyfriend who urged her to participate. While Gurpreet moved her body with such dexterity that the judges stopped her in mid-performance to give her the certificate. Subhash, a professional dancer, was commended for taking care of his family even though his girlfriend's parents do not approve of his career as a dancer. Vaibhav said she hoped he becomes a versatile performer.

Dressed as MJ's lookalike, Krupa Patel danced to his song imitating the superstar perfectly and totally impressing Farah who said she thought she was the only female MJ fan to copy his moves so boldly. The judges surprised everyone when they handed the certificate to Vishal Gandhi even before he performed, as he seemed confident. But once they saw his act, they were horrified as their decision back fired and they took back the certificate.

The hearing-impaired Nehal, impressed the judges with her impeccable performance and they praised her for her never-say-die spirit. But the judges were sad to let her go as they couldn't take her further in this journey.
Undoubtedly, Karan Pangali was the most happening performer in the London auditions as he got the bracelet and the ticket to Mumbai right after his act! His performance infusing kathak and hip hop was mesmerising. His confidence and good looks added brownie points to his favour. Farah shocked Vaibhavi once again with her comment that he might win Just Dance. With that the London auditions were wrapped up as the judges got five dancing gems from UK.
