Gaurav is not the FIRST

It is clear to everyone that Gaurav is Gay .. I quite liked it ,.because it will tackle a social issue.. which needs to be shown .. But in many article there are these information that Gaurav from Maryada is going to be the first ever Gay character on Indian Television .. Many people in this forum also mentioned that ...But No this is not true ..

One of the episodes of Rishta.com featured a gay character named Akshat who kept his reality hidden from his parents out of fear that they wouldn't accept the truth. Rohan (one of the show's leads) advised him to come out to his family (who had hired Rohan and Isha's matrimonial agency to look for a girl for Akshat) but he refused.


I believe none of them (Gaurav, Akshat, Sid) are/were the first gay characters on desi television. Others were shown here and there. Akshat and Sid were probably the first ones not treated as purely comic relief/joke characters. Gaurav and Karan may be the first gay couple (at least one that is treated seriously) in a desi daily soap though and this may also be the first time this has been a major storyline in a desi soap.

Pia thanks for ur informations...but l'm not happy for the track that Gourav is gay coz Vidya's future is in a great danger
