Hi,

A lot of discussion is going on in the forum as to "How is the public voting"??

It is true that sometime we fail to understand as to what is going on in the minds of people who are voting. Though there have been similar posting, I thought I will start a new thread and begin with my own analysis.

It is difficult to predict, but going by the results of the recent talent contests, I have some thoughts regarding the factors that tilt the voting in favor of a particular contestant, even though he is not the best talent (Debojit)/some talent (Sandeep) and even no talent (Qazi) at all.

1.Sympathy:

Some of the contestants evoke a sympathic response to the public. The public thinks that the person does not need to be bashed by the judges or demeaned by fellow contestants and thus start voting for him. This was the reason Sandeep and Anuj got so many votes. This also helped Debojit somewhat because even when he sang really well, he was bashed by the AS and HR. The walkout episode only added to his votes.SR bagged some of the sympathy votes in the begining rounds apart from performing well.

2. Humility:

People dont like persons who are arrogant and who begin to have very high opinion of themselves. Vinit is a very good example of this. The way he led the walkout in SRGMP-05 really made people think this and thus put him in a disadvantageous position. On the other hand Debojit never for once lost his humble self. He would be eequally respectful, when judges gave him good marks and when not so great marks.

This wsa also perhaps the case for Karunya and somewhat Amey. They were praised so much and a couple of off comments here and there, might not have made a good impression on people. Even though UA have been in the bottom half of the voting for a few episodes they were careful not to make any off comments, thus they are back now to where they belong.

3. Behaviour:

Needless to say that the best examples are TV and RV. Though both of the pairs sing very well as far as singing goes, but they did not display a decent behaviour. Though TV are still getting a lot of votes, if they continue to behave like this in front of the camera, they will be soon votes out. They tend to project themselves as a very lovey-dovey couple, which is not very appealing, apart form making uncalled comments regarding their fellow contestants. Antara also got voted out because she made some snide remarks about public voting.

4. Maintaining Impression:

If one manages to make a favorable impact on the public by your singing or by your behavior, public will give them a couple of more chances, if you manage to come back on track soon after you make your mistake, the public will be willing to cast more votes. In case of Debojit, though sometimes he made mistakes and was not consistant, he would immediately come back with a stellar performance and manage to keep a favorable impression on people. SR on the other hand were given so many opportunities to come back, but they failed to. Rajeev's argument with Vishwas did not help either. UA on the otherhand has been singing exceptionally well and it is only now that they are able to impress people.

One's singing talent comes somewhere in between, though I would want to say that , that is the formost.....😕, we all know this is not the case.

So here are a few thoughts of mine. I am sure many of us would have thoguht on these lines. Please share your thoughts and who knows may be could discover....as to how the public meter works???What do you say 😉
