Hey people,

So as usual this forum is packed with numerous posts regarding the characters of DKS contestants, especially DID 1 contestants of course. And there really is no place to discuss the dance performances so I thought I'd make my own thread just for that purpose. Feel free to agree/disagree and join in if interested. This post is to discuss the performances on April 29th.

1) The kids: Totally awesome performance! Seriously the adults just can't match up to these kids man! They have way too much energy and spirit! 👏

2) Amar and Vandana: Honestly, I didn't like this performance at all. I thought these guys completely messed up the style of samba dancing. And I didn't expect that from Amar especially since I have seen him perform the Paso Doble style in DID 2 where he was SO awesome! So I really thought he'd have no trouble getting that poise and stance for this dance right, but for some reason that didn't happen. I guess it was the shoes like Jai mentioned. I don't even know what the heck Vandana was doing! But atleast she maintained her expressions throughout. I was majorly disappointed with Amar because he was actually showing his difficulty with the steps RIGHT on his face!! 😕 At this stage, a dancer just can't be doing that! It's different if you mess up and stuff on stage...that happens. But if you're not even involved in your dance, you're that aloof and careless...to me that is so much worse. Like Jai said, the essence of the dance style was really not there! And the hip movements as well. Samba requires a lot of hip movements...and that goes for the ballroom style as well, not just the carnival style. Really disappointing performance by these guys. I thought Jai's criticism of their performance was much better than the judges even, in this episode! I just found these guys pretty unprofessional with their dancing in this episode.

3) Siddesh and Bhavna: I found the chemistry lacking between these two. It was just a weird pairing. These two should've spent more time together or something to get that chemistry right. I agreed with Remo and Shiamak too about the using the dance floor more with the sweeping across the floor movements. I felt that too. However, these guys still maintained the essence of the dance style so that's a plus. I thought Bhavna was really graceful too. I really love that song though, so I wished it was a better performance.

4) Ruturaj and Vaishnavi: Aww these kids are too cute. Honestly, I don't even feel like comparing the kids with the rest of the gang, because they are just a different league in themselves. This performance was really entertaining too. I liked all the little gimmicks. Cute. :)

5) Jai and Vrushali: Finally we saw these guys pair up again after DID 1! Wohoo! I have such a soft spot for this pairing. 😆 I liked their performance. It was the most professional out of all the ballroom styles done so far with Vrushali and Siddesh's rumba coming close. Their chemistry was awesome. And Jai and Vrushali are just so classy as dancers. I disagreed with Shiamak about Jai's expressions actually because I thought Jai was also flirting with Vrushali pretty well. And it really takes two to make that chemistry work. These two totally got that poise, stance and the character for these dance styles down. Impressive. 😊

6) Alisha vs. Parvez, dance ki takkar: I was really disappointed with Alisha in this episode. I think this girl is just not in her zone man. She seems so underconfident to me. 😕 Which is totally opposite to the Alisha we've seen in DID 1. *sigh* It makes me sad to see Alisha not give her 100%. Anyways, Parvez was as usual awesome and totally entertaining to watch. 😆 He brought a lot of cool moves to the table too. He was definitely the clear winner in this takkar. 👍🏼

7) The Jalwa group performance: Wow, I really liked this performance! 👏 So creative, loved the concept! Good thing these guys have such awesome hip-hop/locking and popping dancers on their team like Parvez, Dharmesh and Ruturaj! I totally loved the Lagaan concept! So creative and apt for a group performance. 😆 Aww too bad that jhanda thing in the end didn't work out, but nevertheless an awesome performance! I thought this was definitely their best group performance so far!

8) The Josh group performance: Ok first, I would really like to appreciate this whole team for bringing out so many different dance styles all the time. These guys really take risks! 👏 Even last week with the Sufi...which I thought was a huge risk to take, and which they should've gotten more appreciation for. And this week too, doing something like bhangra which requires going completely out of your comfort zone and going wild! 😆 So much appreciation for trying new things and taking risks everytime. The performance was enjoyable too. I just have a soft spot for bhangra always, so I was really happy to see a bhangra group performance. Yay! 😆

Ok feel free to agree/disagree and add your own inputs about the performances of this episode. :)

P.S. Random thought: Since I didn't want to make another post for this. But I really think DID 1 dancers are far ahead of DID 2 dancers in terms of the knowledge for the various dance styles both national and international. And I think that's because DID 1 people actually got a lot more exposure to different dance styles than DID 2 people did. DID 1 was more about showcasing the different dance styles and DID 2 was always more about the competition. DID 1 people were always challenged more too, they really had to prove themselves. Whereas DID 2 people mostly stayed within their comfort zones. Especially the people in Terrence's Toli...since I really think Terrence is far ahead of the other two judges in terms of showcasing different dance styles properly and that pure love for dance. But even Terrence in season 2 did not experiment much with his contestants. Except maybe in the beginning. Season 2 was more about showing what you can do best instead of taking risks like season 1.

Anyways, I think for that reason DID 1 dancers are just more exposed to various dance styles, hence they do have more knowledge of these dance styles. That is not to say that DID 2 people aren't good dancers of course...they are exceptional dancers! But they do lack that exposure and training..especially with the ballroom styles.

This is just my neutral point of view by the way. Not trying to put down a certain team or anything like that. I have favourites from both the teams so please don't jump on me or anything like that. Phew, just had to make that clear. 😆

disagree on a couple of points

the kids, nothing special out of the zone, rutu vaishu performance didnt strike me out as awesome, i thought jai and vrushali deserved the performance of the day over rutu vaishu, i love the kids but its a competition and the standards has to be same for everyone, and if kids are competing with adults, they have to judged in same standards

waltz by bhavna and siddesh was rilli weird

agree about alisha. she seemd out of energy or lost at times, at one point i think she stopped for a moment before starting anew. her beginning was awesome and the takkar started with both of them equally strong, but somewhere in the middle alisha lost her focus.

jalwa performance was really good, but it could have been better. pleasent surprise kruti and ammu, looked totally like guys, and as i said in the backstage pics, when i first saw her i thought she was atul or vatsal.

josh was good too, though a little hapazard.
but mayuresh, man he is strong, paulson had two kids and moved, mayuresh had to adults hooked on to him and he moved so fast in the beat, i was totally wowed at that moment, what strength and balance

thanks for opening the performance thread, but i disagree that people come here only to discuss character of contestants, lots of us here discuss about dance and performance. there are posts about that too, in fact most of the people come here to discuss dance

At LM, i felt season1 and season2 people were at par, coz they all taught the kids various international and Indian dance styles, and all the kids did them quite well.maybe some were better than other but that maybe the kids and their individual talents.
but i didnt follow DID1 much, was regular since DID2, so cannot really comment on their knowledge of dance, my favourites are from both the shows, the three classical girls.

I agree. I love rutu and vaishu. in fact i am a huge Dinchak fan. However, their performance yesterday was nothing special. Their expressions were really good but that was it. We've seen both of them do much bette hip hop before. Their last week's contemporary was really stunningly awesome and deserved the perfect 30 score that they got and the 'performance of the day' as well. However, i didnt think they deserved the performance of he day yesterday. Actually i was surprised when i found out that they were doing a duet performance considering they just did one last friday. I thought they werent allowed to repeat partners. anyways, i love rutu- vaishu jodi so i dont care about that. i just hope next time (if they do perform a duet) they will perform something much better than yesterday's hip hop. its just that i have high expectations from them and i know there capable of better performances.

I expected they would get the POD😔

Disagree with the OP about Jai's and Vrushali's performance...the posture was completely off during the performance...Jai's shoulders were slouching in many parts of the performance...Vrhsuali was adequate but nowhere near perfect...The sync and timing between the two was just off...This is a trend with Jai...He is simply below average in duet performances...We saw this throughout DID 1 where Jai was nowhere close to Salman's level in duets, and we saw this in DID 2 when Jai performed with Shakti...quite possibly the worst duet in all of DID 2, and we saw it in this performance...Jai simply can not perform well in a duet...The shortcomings were quite evident as well judging from Judges remarks...the judges appreciated Amar's performance way more then Jai's...😊 My favorite part of this weekend was when Remo said, "shows to bahut hote hein, magar Asli show Dharmesh jaise logo sein banta hein"...😛 Remo summed it up beautifully

Ahhh thanks for this post, Pallo! I can add my thoughts about the epi as well :-)

Firstly how come they were showing duos and then that one dance ki takkar in the end today?? I thought they saved the dance ki takkars for the Saturday epis😕 That threw me off.

Anyways...coming to the performances:

Amar-Vandana: Totally agree with you...initially I liked their beginning with energy and a sort of mazaa they started with but as it progressed on it went from bad to worse...especially Amar was quite disappointing cuz like you said he was struggling and it was showing on his face...deffo not among his best...the lack of shoes could definitely be it as Shiamak demonstrated later also how it gives you that momentum on the balls of your feet...

I agree with you about Jai's criticism being valid too although I guess they had to build a whole drama around it and show khunnas from all ends...anyways...here's the Papiya-Divyam performance that Jai was mentioning from LM...Papiya was superbbb in this...

Siddesh-Bhavna: Ok performance...Bhavna was very graceful and some lifts were quite nice but I didn't get that full feel of a waltz somehow...

Rutu-Vaishu: Honestly didn't enjoy it much...felt repetitive...they've done FAR better than this in the past

Jai-Vrushali: Quite nice...again some great poise by Vrushali and Jai and her have always had a good dynamic but the glitches with them missing catching each other's hands and stuff for some turns and all did take away from the performance to me to some extent...some portions were quite nice though like that split that Vrushali did b/w his legs...very nicely executed...didn't find anything faulting in the chemistry but the dancing could have been smoother...I really wish that I could watch ONE performance where I wouldn't see goof-ups. Where they practice enough to achieve perfection.

Alisha v/s Parvez: *sigh* I'm so disappointed with Alisha I can't even begin to tell you...the Alisha from DID-1 is TOTALLY MISSING...she's lost her confidence...she's lost that FATAAK crispness there used to be in her dance...Remo let her down gently in his criticism but the honest truth is that Parvez OWNED her in that takkar and totally blew her off the stage...I found the choroegraphy for Alisha's portions to be VERY half-assed too...Parvez's choreography was much better plus he executed it superbly...loved his performance...the only thing holding my attention in the takkar while I kept wondering where THIS Alisha went

The group performances...Loved the concept of the Jalwa group no doubt but they seem to be doing that same hip-hop/locking-popping style in all their group acts now...would like to see more variety...Liked that the Josh group tried Bhangra...and did a good job but wish they'd done it with more energy...still it was deffo among their better group acts.

Overall honestly I didn't really enjoy the epi much in entirety...nothing that I really LOVED.

Jai and Vrushali were the best!! I love their chemistry and their performances
they seemed the most professional and most correct in dancing. The best pair of DID!

I agree I didnt really like Amar and Vandana's samba is just didn't seem correct and Vandana really doesnt have any good expressions.

What I loved the most today was Alisha and Parvez face off- I thought they were awesome!! They are both my favorites and i wanted it to be a tie just because i love them both so much. However, Parvez nailed it👍🏼 OMG i couldn't believe what i was seeing. He is like an energy bomb😲 Alisha was equally good too (but definitely not her best though). She is such a graceful dancer👏 I totally totally loved this face-off!

Even better was how grounded Parvez was👏 What a wonderful human being he is. He never made it seem like he is better than Alisha even after the scores. He is my hero for the day. Parvez all the way🥳

Group dances were decent and the duos were also good. Today's show seems very exciting and Dharmesh's laser promo made me awestruck. Can't wait...can't wait😍

The kids at the beginning were very cute and wonderful. These children are little stars!! ⭐️ I'm still missing my Jeetumoni though. 😭 😆

Amar-Vandana could have done muuuch better with their samba. To be honest, I didn't really think Jai's comment was that bad about the shoes, but the boasting he did about himself and the extending of it was kind of not needed. Anyways, back to dancing!

Vrushali-Jai really did an excellent job on their performance!!! They were in the right costume and had good expression along with good dancing too. They were very good.

Ruturaj-Vashnavi were very cute, and I enjoyed their performance a lot too. I however feel in general when the kids perform there is a little bit a bias, but I know if I were judging I'd be biased towards well performing children too. 😆

Siddesh and Bhavna's dance had some good moments in it, but overall it was just okay. Both are really good dancer, so my expectation from them is a lot higher. Especially from Bhavna.

Alisha vs. Parvez was not really a good takkar according to me. Alisha did not match up to Parvez at all. He was waaay better than her, and I know she's capable of much more than she put into the takkar. I'm disappointed in her.

Josh's group performance was okay. I love that song, and their concept was nice, but they messed up on execution. There was some coordination problems that cost them in the end.

Jalwa's group performance was very good, but I feel they could have also done much better. I don't feel it was still as good as the Lagaan one. It was a pretty powerful group number though.

Avneet, expression awesome, really really good, but not perfect, not there yet, it was good not excellent
same goes for kruti. she did a tandav on the same song on DID2 auditon and only few seconds of it was shown, i thought that was better, but then this was aerial and it was diffcult with the poses, expressions were amazing, poses were a bit repetitive, overall nice, but not perfect
bhanva: OMG, she has no bones in her body, what a beautiful piece of act.

ammu, disappointed big time, ok, she handled props well, ran around the stage but have seen better contemporary from her, also i was expecting her to do a proper manipuri, doesnt look like my wish is going to be fullfilled😭

Mayuresh amazing elevations and flips. i thought the whole storyline was between a civilised and a savage, so that way all of puneets expressions were justified, else too many faces.
dharmesh and prince lived upto expectations, imo, prince was repetitive though, seen him doing same poses even in dance ki takkar

overall this week wasn't upto expectations, sp dislike the time wasted for yana's performance, sad no trio act and happy that jalwa won.
