@TSP: She ran away twice- Once after the "Tum sirf meri ho, Geet" meeting and the other time it was just before the IP track as well (They may not have been married- but there was a tacit understanding that they are one on both occasions). So this is the third time she has decided to flee. <Maybe they should rename it runaway bride instead of GHSP, now>
Yeah AYM is etched into Maan's DNA, I agree. Thats what made me think of the Byronic Hero in the first place. The always reliable wikipedia tells me that, a Byronic hero is likely to display all or some of these traits
- Arrogant: Check
- Cunning and able to adapt: Neutral
- Cynical: Check
- Disrespectful of rank and privilege: I am inclined towards checking this as well
- Emotionally conflicted, bipolar, or moody: Check
- Having a distaste for social institutions and norms: Check
- Having a troubled past or suffering from an unnamed crime: Check (if that khopcha with the cycle, photu and kabootars is anything to go by)
- Intelligent and perceptive: Check
- Jaded, world-weary: Check
- Mysterious, magnetic and charismatic: Check Check
- Seductive and sexually attractive: Check Check Check
- Self-critical and introspective: ???
- Self-destructive: Check (ice chi, fire chi, air chi, water chi-I can go on and on)
- Socially and sexually dominant: Check
- Sophisticated and educated: Check
- Struggling with integrity: No
- Treated as an exile, outcast, or outlaw: Check (Atleast thats how he started out in the series)
Now unless he transforms a little bit on some of the above- Happy endings will remain elusive unless the person on the other side is totally devoid of self. Any relationship to succeed needs harmony- none of the above are very conducive to harmony or balance, IMO.
Author notes: I am very partial to Heathcliff, though in real life I would have probably shot him in the head very early on!
