how can sarika???

sarika says she wants to be a doctor.......she has given the entrance exam which means she should have passed 12th class.......normally children of 12th class are 17 or 18 yrs old.......her family wants her to marry at 18 yrs only?????.........dont they want her to be a graduate atleast??????

Her parents are okay w/ her studying and pursuing her doctor's degree - it's her grandma who wants her to marry, and like in all serials, the grandma is so powerful that the parents bend over and let her steamroll her wish over Sarika. Frankly, had I had a daughter of that age and my parents or anybody else dared to insist that she get married against her will, there would be hell to pay from me.

In these serials, not only are these grandmas extremely powerful, they are extremely healthy. You see leaps happen where the kids grow up and marry, have their own kids, but the grandma is still not only alive, but in the pink of health and kicking. In real life, they'd be hard of hearing, half blind, putting on & off their teeth and wetting the bed. Not so in these serials. 🤔

The other thing - in real life, most grandparents pamper their grandkids and want them to be happy, and it's the parents who are generally the disciplinarians. But in these serials, one would think the parents & kids are siblings, and the granparents the parents. 😕

Obviously, her grandma is a neanderthal who thinks that a girl's sole duty in life is grow up, get married and make her maayka proud by adorning her sasural. If that's anyone's attitude, then it's likely to be the sooner, the better. If it weren't against the law, dadi would have married her off @ 13.

Her Jiju is the same mindset - he's helpful and dropped her to college so that she could take her test, but he too lent his voice to dadi saying that the demands on girls that they do jobs are man-made interventions, but that biologically, marriage is what they were made for.
