Lechu went and opened the door. She saw this beautiful girl standing in front of her. Lechu turning her head, looking inside, she called out.. : mom, for you...
She turned to walk away , but then suddenly something registered in her mind, she jerked her head to check again .... with open mouth and widened eyes as the image of that beautiful girl flashed inside her mind again.... but found the place empty. She tried to forward her head further out from the door line, Chander's face appeared in front of her with full bloom smile. Her lips closed immediately and then arching her brows , with a confused tone she asked : chander bhayya , aap!!!!
Chander: ha lechu betiya.. how are you?
He noticed her confused face. Controlling his smile Chander: what happened Lechu? Are you ok?
Lechu: ha..... ha.... I am fine, fine..... I thought....
" I thought what?" suchi voice caught her attention..
Lechu walking towards Suchi: I thought I saw deedi
Surender: deedi! Which deedi
Lechu in a disappointed tone : Radhika deedi.
Suchi: you are missing her so much , right. now If you turn one more time you may see your bro too....
Lechu: I know, it is chander bhayya, but mom, I thought I really saw di.. with her dropped eyes and soft voice
Suchi: I told you to turn one more time, you may see your bro too
As if she felt that tease inside from her mom's tone, she turned her dropped eyes and looked at the open door and said : Chander bhayya come inside, why you are standing there only.
And she turned back..
But then her eyes gone wild again and she jerked back and found chander again
Surender coming near lechu, holding onto her shocking posture: kya huva beta?.
Lechu in trance: meine bro ko bhi dekha.......
Surender: then call them inside
Lechu again with disappointed words: dad, don't tease me, then her sad tone speak out: I miss them so much dad, deedi not even coming online now a days, no emails, she only makes calls once in a while and I miss that also mostly. They don't know how much I am missing them. There is no fun without them dad. then raising her voice up she said : When bro and di come next time na, I won't even talk to them. sure
Suchi: pakka
Lechu affirming her words : um , pakka
" ok then, let see how long you can keep your word"
The familiar sound shocked her again and she turned and found Dev standing just behind her with a smile on his face.
BROOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
With a quick move she went near him, and then hugged him tightly, Dev hugged her back with a smile.
Moving back, she looked at his face excitedly and said : i knew you were there and you played prang on me, she hit on his chest with her complaints...
Surender: I thought somebody said............
"daaaaaaaad" Lechu's warned tone came quickly..
suddenly Surender zipped his lips
"where is deedi?' Lechu asked excitedly
Dev: sorry she didn't come. Only me
Lechu: what! No way
Dev: but that's the truth
Lechu: oh really, ok then let me see.. i know i saw her only first... di......
Lechu walked out to the door calling her di's name loud with expectation ..but found the place empty. By then Radhika entered thru the back door and came and stood behind Lechu.....
With confused face Lechu turned
"whom are you looking for?"
The sound of Radhika brought another smile on lechu's face along with all the excitement. She just went and hugged her along with forcefully moving her back towards the sofa quickly.
"you need to get more punishment, you need to compensate for not coming online, not sending me email," saying that she forced her back that Radhika fell back onto the sofa. The quick action by lechu was an unexpected move that the rest of the people watched her with closed mouth, or their mouth didn't open wide enough o stop her.
...Lechu was about to fall on to Radhika, with her talk, that Dev's arm held onto her upper arm and pulled her back with all the possible force, that lechu almost lost balance and fell on to Devs body.
Suchi ran towards Radhika with a fearful face
Surender came and held Lechu as Dev ran towards Radhika releasing Lechu's hold.
Lechu stood there with shocking face looking at the scene..
Suchi with broken words : beta, ....are you ok.
Radhika tried to nodd her head with taking deep breath and her face looked so red and flushed.
Dev came and kneeled down on the floor and his hand just went around her head and his concerned voice came out: Radhika , you.. you ok...
Rahdika gulped once and took a deep breath and she felt better, and she tried to sit up..
Dev and Suchi tried to help her with her move.
Radhika taking a deep breath: ha, I am fine
Lechu stood there with her sweating forehead and fast and pounding heart beat, without understanding anything. Surender held her closer to him, looking at Radhika, to see she is ok
Suchi: Radhika, how is your stomach feeling?
Radhika suddenly rubbed her arms over her lower tummy , which she kept unknowingly in an attempt to protect her little one from that sudden fall.
Radhika: I am ok, she tried to listen down, to feel any change, but she felt ok. She looked at Lechu and said: I am ok.
Dev: you are sure na?
Radhika looked at his feared face , the blood drained away from his cheeks, his hand came over hers , supporting his little one, along with that concerned tone.
Radhika tried to give that smile and nodding her head to reaffirm her words she said: yes, I am ok.
Suchi got up and Suchi and Dev helped Radhika to get up on her feet. Radhika with a smile walked towards lechu who is standing with her fearful face.
Radhika coming near: I am ok lechu, now give me a nice hug
Lechu hesitated
Suchi with a comforting smile: dedona beta
Lechu looked at her as if hesitating to move forward..
Suchi: ok then, don't give hug to your deedi,..... but a little buava can hug the little fellow inside na.
Radhika smiled, lechu comprehending back , looked at Radhika's tummy. She saw the bulge. She felt a current passing through her. Releasing from surender's hold, she just hugged Radhika softly, her eyes filled and few drops rolled down, ' I am sorry deedi' her lips mumbled
"no , no sorry, you are just fine, ok' Radhika comforted her .
Lechu moving back: am I dreaming?
Dev: i guess not and then he hugged her saying "sorry dear, did i hurt you?"
Lechu: No Bro, I am fine. I am fine. I feel like it is a dream
Surrender: not at all, come with me I tell you all about it, but first let deedi go and change ok.
Suchi: ha ha, go and fresh and come back quick, the lunch is ready.
Dev: ok, will be right back
He just tapped on lechu's shoulder, telling her that he will be right back.
Radhika's feet gone uneven as she took the steps to upstairs, suddenly Dev held her strong and his serious warning tone came along with it : careful Radhika
And he held her hand as they went up. As soon as they enterd the room, Dev pulled her in his arms and hugged her for his comfort. 'you ok na"
Radhika nodded her head in agreeing
Releasing her he kneeled down on the floor, and coming level with her abdomen he wrapped his arms around her tummy and then bringing his face closer to her tummy he said: I am sorry beta, we never thought this to happen. But now we will be careful ok. And then with a concerned voice; you ok na , my little princess. After a pause, his lips fell on her lower tummy, over the layers of cloth and his lips mumbled...... you take rest, and then getting up , he cupped her face, and looking at her face he said: no more surprises for anyone ok. It won't be safe.
She just nodded her head. he placed a kiss over her forehead: come I will help you with freshen up
Radhika with a smile: don't worry, I will be fine.
Dev; but still ..... come his caring expression made her to follow him
Radhika went and washed her hands and her face, and Dev handed the towel. Wiping it down, he made her to walk to the bed.
Dev: you lay down for sometime, I will tell mom that you are tired, and I will get your food here, ok.
Radhika: no, no need to do all that..
Dev: no Radhika, you were walking around all this time, and then this, baby may need some rest.so
Radhika: but I am fine
Dev with an angry tone: I TOLD YOU NA, SO TAKE REST. But then realizing his tone, he calmed down and then with a request: please Radhika
Radhika like an obedient kid : ji
And she lay on the bed as he covered her with the sheet.
Dev with a relief got up and changed quick and coming near, rubbing onto her forehead: don't worry, nobody will feel bad, all wants you to take care for now. At least for few days..... till we see some improvement, you remember what doctor told us , right? and we need to go for check up again in three weeks, they want to follow up on your weight gain. So no more big travels , just take care of yourself OK.
Radhika nodded her head
Dev: so only I said...... I will be right back, ok.
Radhika: ji
Dev went down and time passed.
Lechu showed up in soon
"di are you ok"
Radhika with a smile tried to sit up: ha Lechu, I am but then her eyes fell on dev's face which was following behind Lechu, she lay back and completed her sentence: ha, I am feeling little tired, so
Lechu: sorry deedi, I was not knowing
Radhika: it's ok, I am fine
Lechu: Um... dad told me all about your surprise and how you got surprised seeeing everyone here, but then you surprised them with the baby news... Lechu with a smile and sitting next to her : So when are you going to give me the treat?
Radhika looked at Dev
Dev coming behind and sitting behind Lechu and holding on to her hsoulder: whenever you say..
Lechu: pakka
Dev: pakka
Lechu: ok then, after deedi get better
Dev: no problem
Lechu: so where is this little fellow looking at Rahdika's stomach : can I hear him
Dev: lechu it is not him, it is her. Ok
Lechu: who told you that?
Dev: I only, why. Somebody else needs to tell? No it is a girl
Lechu: no it will be a boy
Dev: ha it will be a boy next time, but this is my little princess
Lechu: really!!!
Dev: um, she told me
Lechu: who?
Dev: the baby
Lechu: oh that's good to know...
Dev: you don't know anything, we talk everyday
Lechu: let me try too.. how do i listen? where is the baby's face?
Dev: she only speaks to me and now she is sleeping, so not going to talk to you....
Lechu: Oh really... let me try
Lechu bringing her ear closer to Radhika's tummy, rested her head near and tried to listen and with a smile she said: no the little fellow is wide awake and telling me that 'I am a boy.'..
Dev: no, it is my little girl, and she is sleeping... in a very normal tone
Lechu: brooooooooooo
Dev: um,
Bringing her head up she looked at Rahdika: di, tell me.... is it a girl or a boy?
Radhika smiled
Dev: why you need to ask Radhika? she was thinking it will be twins, but it is not, and it is not a boy either, my baby will be a girl, and she will be just beautiful as my....
Lechu and Radhika looked at him curiously
Dev: just like ..my mom.
Lechu exhaled long and looked at Rahika and said: it's a boy. No girls and his name will be
Dev: ye ye, no name selection now
Lechu: yes I will find a name for my little fellow
Dev: o, fine, I will find one for my little one too
Lechu: ok then.............
their small argument continued and then
Lechu: so when are we going to chandenpur?
Dev: weekend, for a week
Lechu: WOW! that will be fun...
Dev: but don't you have school
Lechu: ha, but I will take leave
Dev: what? are you working somehwere to take leave, you are still in college only, right? or did i miss somehting????
Lechu in a secret way: it's ok, don't make it a big issue, I will manage it accordingly, ok. And don't open your mouth in front of mom, understand.... her warning tone trailed off
Dev: what! This is your final year and....
Lecu: no dear, this Bro doesn't know anything.... I have one full year left to complete the course ok, atleast check on all this once in a while.
Dev: oops, sorry
Lechu: um then looking at Rahdika: how you are surviving with him, I don't know..
Rahdika smiled while Dev felt that needle poke somewhere inside.
Their talk went on for some more time
Suchi came up and joined the group too
Suchi: so, now Radhika how you are feeling?
Rahika looked at Dev for permission but them mumbled thru it; I am feeling better
Suchi: ok then, come let's have lunch
Radhika widening her eyes: didn't you all had lunch!!!
Lechu: nope, we are waiting for you Bro told that you are not feeling well and you will have it later, so we also decided to wait.
Radhika looked at Dev but then he walked out, they all went down and had lunch. Sat on sofa for some time and had their family talk. Lechu liked the gift she got from them.
Time passed by and it was night time. Radhika wearing her new comfy maternity dress, was reading the book she brought from the asram. She had three pillows on her back to support her well. Dev was into his laptop and checking things. Closing it , he stretched his arms up nicely and then looked at Rahdika and found her reading the book and it was clear that she was totally into it.
Dev went and stood near the window and looked outside. The atmosphere was wet after an unexpected drizzle. He looked up and the sky was looking extremely dark without the sparkly stars or smiley moon. The dark clouds are still floating around. But he loved the freshness of that night, he remembered once Rahdika telling him that the air in chandenpur carry the season , and now he is smelling it, the wetness of the ground and he is feeling it, the coldness of nature. Even though the rain came in an odd time, Delhi was already settling under winter blankets.
....He looked at Radhika, thinking how much she changed, otherwise she will be standing here, telling him all her madness about the nature. But now even the cold or the rain was not able to catch her attention. She is in her own world. The new habit is good , at least keep your mind busy in something new, instead of making it to think on all that unwanted things. He smiled. But you need to get back Radhika, you need to love this nature once again, because you only taught me to look at it differently, you found happiness in seeing them, and you showed me how to feel happy myself, so now I will make you to realize it back, it may take time, I won't force you, you will come back naturally. Sushma buava talked to mom and me, and she wants to meet you too, they will be here tomorrow, I don't know how buava will respond to your new change, maybe she will be the one who will get hurt badly seeing you like this, I hope everything will go well tomorrow.
Cold wind just blow through the open window and he felt the chill, he looked at Radhika and found her covering herself under the sheet till her shoulder but still her eyes are fixed on the letters.
He closed the window and came near the bed " are you done"
Radhika taking her eyes off from the book: ji'
Dev: can I turn the light off
Rahdika: ji
Dev went to turn off the light while Radhika closed the book and kept that near the night stand, she sat and prayed and there was a calmness on her face. Dev took the pillow from behind her, and put that in place and then took her in his arms
Dev: Radhika, tomorrow dadaji and Buava will be coming
Radhika: um
Dev: if you feel better then we will go to chandenpur this weekend ok, and will stay there for a week or two, if your health permits. ok
Radhika: um
Dev: I also need to rethink many things now. I don't think it will be safe to travel back, especially our baby needs that extra care and I don't want to take any risk on that. So let us think about it ok.
Radhika: um
Dev: do you have anything in mind
Radhika: umhum....
Dev: Do you think... here.... they will let you travel back with me
Radhika tightened her hold on his shoulder : muhum, I don't know
Her hold told him that she doesn't want him to leave her alone. He rubbed on her back with a smile and then placed a soft kiss over her forehead..
Dev: so we really need to think about it seriously. Actually I am learning and knowing many things now, I don't want you to be away from me anymore. My ignorance was the reason for all this, but now I know, so we have time to think. But whatever, you will be ok with my decision, right?
Radhika didn't say anything back as she didn't get what he just said..
Dev: In this situation, there is 0% chance for them to send you back with me, and if I go alone, it will be so stressful and that won't work, I want you nearby, I want to see your face when I come back from work, I want to see my baby growing up inside you. I can't miss both of you, you two are part of my life, and I can't live without you.
Then flashing back to their past , Dev with a smile: Radhikaaaa....
Radhika: um
Dev: do you remember when you talked about that eight babies,... actually I am happy to have eight kids ..but now we have just one, and see your condition, you are not even eating good, so if there is two inside , then what may be your condition!!... but then imagine them growing up inside your flat tummy But then moving her to the front , he smiled at her

Dev: Radhika, how big our baby will grow?
Radhika: ji!

His arm just slide down and rubbed over her abdomen, she felt the shiver as he opened those gown flap to see her tummy. she held her breath in, as his eyes fell on their little one, his hand just stroked over her bare skin and the goosebumps just popped up quickly. He rested his cheek over her skin and tried to listen to the little one inside, placing a warm kiss over her skin for the baby he said : do you know, i saw you today, i saw your tiny limbs, streching out inside mummy's tunny. you know how tiny you are, and i saw your beating heart, do you know how happy i felt, I can't wait for you to come out, in my arms, but for that you need to tell your mom to eat good , take care better , then you will come out with the most beuatiful smile... for your papa... i know all the babies cry, but you will smile seeing me , right. right... Radhika started feeling the tickling, but she controlled very well..... he continued; ok now, you sleep ok.. goodnight and muwaaa... he placed another kiss , Rahdika tried to control her unesiness and tried to hide her blushing cheek from his eyes.
Luckily Dev moved up and took her back in his arms wihtout looking at her face ..and said: I am imagining you with that big tummy.
Radhika: ji!
Dev: um, then it will be difficult for you to walk around na. but then thinking back: no, do you remember the lady who comes to our apartment gym and do all those exercises, with the next day due, she was walking faster than me on that thread mill!!! Many times I thought what we do, if she deliver at that time . They were crazy na. but don't even think about it ok. you take rest only. Dev with a relief: ha, that's good.

Then looking back: you got scared today , right, when Lechu forced you back into that sofa

Dev; no more ok's Radhika, I got scared, in fact mom got scared too and it was clearly written on your face too....,
Radhika: lechu too
Dev: I know. I am glad, my baby is fine and then touching her tummy" is she sleeping now..
Radhika: um
Dev: oh so, now you know
Radhika just smiled..
Dev: let me check back , or I can tell her a story
Radhika smiled as he placed his ear near to her tummy, looking back at her: yes, she is sleeping sound, so now you also try to sleep Ok
Radhika smiled adjusted by laying on her side... Dev laying next to her, wrapped his arms around her , supporting the little one inside, .... he placed his face closer to her neck space, feeling her closer in his hold.
