Former model Diana Hayden was recently in town to be part of the 'Heal a Child' awareness programme. In a candid chat she spoke about her untitled comeback film, her love for charity, why India is missing out on the Miss World pageant and her love for haleem.
She is back doing films after a gap of six years. What was so special about this movie? "I think you are the first person I am talking to about my next movie. Yes, I have signed for a movie opposite TV actor Karan Singh Grover. It is based on a true story so it's not a remake. It's not a love story, it's a nice suspense movie which got my attention and it's shaping up well," she says, adding, "I had been shooting in Bangkok and just came down for a day to create awareness about 'Heal a Child' project. I have been busy with this movie," she says.
So, what has she been doing all these years? "Films are not my main career option. It's just an addition to everything else I do in life. I was busy promoting a lot of awareness programmes on breast cancer, 'go green' concepts etc. I've also been hosting a lot of travel shows, other programmes and have also been travelling," says the actress.
She adds, "I chose to be the ambassador for the 'Heal a Child' organisation because one day when I went to meet these children at a hospital, I was moved to see them with tubes all over their bodies and with a helpless look on their faces. The other thing was a realisation that if their parents had no money for treatment, then the children were left to die. There are people all around who can afford to give money and help these children and I have decided to stand up for this cause."
Why does she think India has not won a Miss World pageant for a long time? "It is not easy to win a pageant, we are very demanding once someone wins, we want everyone one to win. There are so many countries who haven't won till today. So, let's be happy with what we have got. I am sure everyone is doing their best to win," she says.
The former model says that she loves Hyderabadi haleem. "Yes, this is the main reason why I come to Hyderabad. I make sure I am here in that season, and take many packets back to Mumbai for my friends as well. I spend my time here with my relatives and cousins," she adds. Any plans of marriage? She says, "No, I am very busy in life, there's nobody as of now. I am single and very happy."
