Mumbai, March 13, 2011 (Washington Bangla Radio / Kreation Guru) SaReGaMa India Limited is all set to woo the audience with yet another musical drama titled 'Soundtrack'. The film is slated for a release in August this year and is currently under production. Debutant Neeraj Ghosh is directing the flick and says that he always wanted to make a film based on music. According to Sources, the film explores the life and hurdles of a Disc Jockey (DJ)
The film stars Rajeev Khandelwal of Aamir fame who plays the role of the protagonist in the film. Soha Ali Khan and Mrinalini Sharma play the two female leads. In a recent interview, actor Rajeev Khandelwal revealed that his character was that of a DJ and the film portrays the numerous shades of a musician. Soha Ali Khan would be seen as a deaf girl in the film. This indeed has been Soha's toughest challenge so far. In a tete-a-tete, she confessed that this role has a human touch to it and essaying the character has been a completely different experience for her. After the debacle of her last film Tum Mile, Soha is all set to comeback with a bang with 'Soundtrack'.
Saregama is said to have bought the official remake rights from a Canadian film titled It's All Gone Pete Tong. The film was based on the true story of a musician Czech DJ Kristov Masalin.
Kristov lost his sense of hearing due to extreme noise levels but yet managed to keep his art alive. The story is his journey through the light and dark. Rajeev Khandelwal will be seenessaying the role of this musician. In the videsi version, actor Paul Kaye played the same role. According to the director of the film, Rajeev had to undergo a serious makeover to suit the character of the film.
Needless to mention, being a musical flick Soundtrack boasts of great foot tapping music that has been composed by the Midival Punditz. The two Delhi based musicians, Tapan Raj and Gaurav Raina have already made a mark with their fusion music album named Six Degrees. They have also composed scintillating background scores for Bollywood films like Don-The chase begins, Karthik calling Karthik, Luck By Chance and Lets Enjoy. They are currently also working on the music score of upcoming releases like the Deepika Padukone starrer Dum Maaro Dum.
Mrinalini Sharma stars as the second female lead in the film. She started her career with an item number in Prakash Jha's Apaharan. She played major roles in Mahesh Bhatt's Awaraapan and Showbiz. This sexy model turned actress is very hopeful about her role in the film and says she is confident that it would be a turning point for her career in Bollywood.
With 'different kind of cinema' struggling to make their place in B-town these days, the audience has been fortunate to have their plates full. 'Soundtrack' surely belongs to the new genre of Hindi movies and looks promising in its efforts to entertain cine-lovers. We hope it gets a deserving place at the box office as well!
