RAJKOT: Soap opera or Dhoni's dhoom dhoom? The debate cost 18-year-old Tejal Vaghela her life when she consumed insecticide late on Monday after her younger brother did not allow her to watch a television serial. He wanted to watch the highlights of the second India-Pakistan ODI at their home here.

Tejal's death took another tragic turn for the Vaghela family as her cousin, Rajesh Chauhan, 19, consumed phenyl when he heard of her death. Rajesh is fighting for his life in a local hospital.

Tejal, who was watching the serial 'Kavyanjali', was enraged when her brother Dinesh switched channels. This led to a quarrel between the two.

The matter turned worse when their father Mavji Vaghela, a peon at the Rajkot labour court, returned home a little later and rebuked Tejal for having quarrelled with her brother. According to the police, this led her to take the extreme step.

crazy girl....that is taking serials to an extreme...she should have logged on to IF and catched the update..written and/or video here 😉

what this girl has done shows how crazy we are about these TV serials...there is a limit to obsession ...
even though it is the course of events that followed that probably led her to this extreme step.

I simply can't understand the mental state of this girl!! Suicide.. on a serial 😭 😭 😭 ... Life is not a game... nothing in this world justifies the act of such suiciders!!! Utter foolishness!!!!! 😡

This shows how fanatic and immature a person could be for a simple TV serial. Because of the ego-clash with younger brother for not being successful in fulfilling her wish, out of desperation and anguish, she chose this path.

People ARE mad about serials, even on IF. I've seen tamer versions of this girl online, but they do exist. Its shocking how a fictitious serial becomes their very life.

But, I dont think that a simple serial would cause a girl to commit suicide. There must be deeper reasons. Because she took the drastic step after her father rebuked her. There must be some other issues in the family that we are unaware of.

Because some things in that article just don't make sense. Even her cousin tried to commit suicide!

Anyway, going back to the topic: No I would not give up my life just to watch a TV show. In the end, it is just not worth it.

It seems to be a little more than meets the eye. This girl possibly has some emotional, mental disorder. People don't simply take their lives, not even fanatics!!! Most fanatics have some sort of a lesson for the world to leave. The girl need a psyciatrist but alas her parents did not know any better!

Your right their aparna no one takes their life for no reason their must have been something wrong with their, if her parents took it a little more seriously then maybe they could of done something to prevent this

i simpley cant belive the girl killed her slef coz of a serial, im sure it must have been long family problems, she probaly was arguing with her brother and her dad proably made a big deal out of it and yelled at her maybe even hit her a littel, and im sure this girl was proably sick of her family and her life. i dont think the serial has anything to do with this at all

i wouldnt commit suicide but it is really infuriating when i want to watch K street and i'm not allowed to watch. I do sometimes lose my temper 😳
