Legally , it never was valid nor acceptable..

But Socially it is accepted in many cases where the first wife does not have a strong BG or is not backed up by anyone / or chooses not to oppose...

Guys, just as a question.... there used to be many old movies, esp of Govinda and Anil Kapoor, where they secretly had remarried and had 2 wives, kids and all.
Although they were comedy movies, therefore not very logical, but the issue of non-validity was never brought up in any of the movies. I was always just a fight between the 2 wives for the husband's love, and then in the end, they would live together happily.
What about that then? When the wive's are living happily together? If they are lawful, then why not Shakti-Arushi?

no its not valid.......hindu marriage act does not approve of bigamy.

Definitely not. Hindu Marriage act does not consider second marriage legal unless first wife is dead or divorced. But the law comes to break the second (illegal)marriage, only if the first wife objects and reports and wants the second marriage to break.
