Madhuri wipes out Shah Rukh Khan

The results are out on the much-hyped Shah Rukh Khan versus Madhuri Dixit war on reality TV. Going by the TRPs of SRK's latest show Zor Ka Jhatka, Madhuri's Jhallak Dikhlaa Jaa has clearly taken the lead.

SRK's new show, a water- based adventure contest, has opened to a rating of 2.6 TVR. In comparison, Jhallak Dikhlaa Jaa, on which Madhuri is a celebrity judge and prime attraction, opened to 5.6 TVR around four weeks ago.

Looking at the opening ratings of other shows hosted by Bollywood stars, Shah Rukh's latest outing is also lagging behind Amitabh Bachchan 's recently- concluded Kaun Banega Crorepati season 4 and Salman Khan's Bigg Boss 4. The Big B's KBC 4 opened with 5.4 TVR. The Salman-hosted Bigg Boss 4 saw TRPs of 3.6 on day one.

The only Bollywood star- hosted reality show in recent times that has fared below expectation has been Akshay Kumar's Masterchef India. Akshay's foodie contest opened to a 2.6 TRP in October last year, matching SRK's low show.

Zor Ka Jhatka is also lagging behind if we consider the current prime time schedule. Among shows aired in the primetime slot on weekdays, Pavitra Rishta is the highest TRP drawing show with an average rating of 6.4. Jhallak Dikhlaa Jaa has maintained a steady rating of around 3.2 over the past four weeks.

The only respite is that the show has garnered decent TRPs in the specific key rating segment of young audiences. The age group of 10- 14 years saw an opening TRP of 3.5 TVR, which is the highest across all age segments for the show. The SRK- hosted Zor Ka Jhatka is based on the international hit reality show Wipeout and has been successfully reprised in 22 different countries.

Television industry watchers feel that a big reason why Zor Ka Jhatka hasn't managed to live up to expectations is that the idea has already been airing on Indian television by way of Takeshi's Castle.

For Zor Ka Jhatka, SRK has reportedly been paid Rs 20 crore. He also shot his portions in a Mumbai studio and not at the actual location in Argentina where the show is being filmed.
Im glad Jhalak is doing well
