I'm happily dead: Sameer

TNN, Jan 30, 2011, 12.00am IST

"I enjoyed dying and can call myself happily dead!" Now that's the unlikeliest of things to hear from an actor who exits from a show.

But the King of hearts, Gangadhar Rao of Jhansi Ki Rani i.e. Sameer Dharmadhikari clearly says that he lived his part to the fullest and has no qualms about his ouster. "It's not really an ouster. My character is dead in the show but I still remain a part of it. I will have an imaginary existence for Rani Laxmibai. But my shooting won't be as extensive as before," clarifies Sameer.

So does he not miss shooting for the show? "Completely!" says Sameer. He further adds, "I feel that vacuum in my life now. I used to stay at the studios and would shoot 28 days a month. Everyone on the sets right from the spot boy to my make-up man, all used to call me Maharaj. Back in Mumbai when people now address me as Sameer it feels weird!" Having said that, Sameer considers the enactment of Gangadhar Rao his best by far, "I knew my character would die at some point of time. After all it's a historical show and you can't change history. However, even in my limited stint the show extracted the best out of me."
