SPIRITUAL QUOTIENT Namaaz is a form of meditation for me ... and my religious beliefs stem from the good upbringing I received from my father, says television actor Eijaz Khan Ivery much believe in God.I believe that he is the higher power that is omnipresent and watches over us all.I do like to pray and make it a point to not to miss Jumma i.e.prayers on Friday.I go to the mosque to pray and believe it is a small gesture on my part to be in touch with my roots. I havent made any serious attempt towards following yoga or meditation. But I look forward to giving it a serious shot in the future because of its tremendous benefits. My religious beliefs stem from the good upbringing I received from my father.Besides, academics my father provided me wholesome education in the form religious teachings. As a kid,a maulana would come and teach me about the Quran Sharif, how namaaz is prayed, etc. However,my father never forced religion on me,he just made sure that I had the basic necessary knowledge about Islam. My family is not into visiting dargahs and neither am I,except for visiting the mosque on Fridays and Eid for prayers. But Im very much looking forward to visiting Mecca in the future.I did visit Shirdi and have visited Tirupati, thrice with my friends.I dont pray to any saints or any holy person.Thats because I dont place any human being on an equal pedestal with God.I'm not superstitious either. For me,Islam is a way of life. However,I consider myself both a religious and a spiritual person. On a spiritual level,I connect with every living thing around me.Also,I believe that one should be able to connect well with other people. I dont believe in running behind money, fame or power. If and when I deserve it,I will get it,twice-fold.I firmly believe that we all get what we truly deserve in life.
