Kareena for opening, Katrina for closing
RANCHI: Sports lovers in Jharkhand will have a merry time for nearly a fortnight as they will get to see national-level sporting extravaganza and a host of Bollywood artists, all for free during the National Games.
Cineyug entertainment, the company that bagged the event management responsibility, has assured the organizers to bring Kareena Kapoor and Sukhwinder Singh for the opening and Katrina Kaif and Shaan for the closing ceremony on February 12 and 26 respectively. The opening ceremony will be anchored by Big Boss fame Shweta Tiwari, where as the closing ceremony by Channel V anchor Mini Mathur.
The ticket and gate management sub-committee of the National Games Organizing Committee (NGOC) has decided to make the entry to the stadiums free so that the venues do not lay vacant during the events.
Chairman of the sub-committee Anurag Gupta said keeping in mind the issue of restricting crowd and generating revenue, various price packages were discussed and suggested to the NGOC. "A final decision in the matter of fixing ticket prices is to be taken by the state government and we expect it to be announced within a day or two," he said.
The sub-committee, which is authorised to print tickets and free passes after finalization of the price, is waiting for the final nod. Once the prices are announced, a mammoth task of distributing free passes and sale of tickets is to be managed. The process of numbering the gates and seats and putting them on the tickets and passes will follow only when the rates are decided.
A member of the sub-committee said three levels of tickets would be issued for the opening and closing ceremonies worth Rs 250, Rs 500 and Rs 750 depending upon the stand and distance of the seat from the main athletics stadium where the ceremonies would be held.

B'wood celebrities to perform at National Games
The opening ceremony of the 34th National Games in Ranchi on February 12th will see either Kareena Kapoor or Priyanka Chopra take part an official said on Saturday.
"We have awarded Cineyug contract for opening and closing ceremonies. In the opening ceremony, either Kareena or Priyanka Chopra will take part and Katrina Kaif will take part in the closing ceremony on February 27th," a senior official told.
"Cineyug has been awarded contract of Rs.10.50 crore and taxes will be paid in addition to it. Singer Sukhvinder will take part in the opening ceremony and 'Big Boss 4' winner Shweta Tiwari will be the anchor of the opening ceremony," the official added.
The closing ceremony will also see a performance by singer Shaan.
President Pratibha Patil is likely to be chief guest at the opening ceremony here.
