Part 12
Maan set out for delhi early making excuse about a meeting. As he was alone, so he drove the car at full limits reaching delhi in 2 hours but after entering the city he started driving slowly. He felt slightly foolish as he neared home, he had worked hard to clear his schedule so he could stay in HP and now he had nothing to do.
He drove the car through the drive way, still unable to understand his own mind. He shut off the
engine and got his bag out. He went up to his room and unpacked his bag and then, took a shower.
After that he decided to surprise dadi ma, she would be really happy to have him back so soon.
He started searching for her and finally found her in meera's room. Both were talking excitedly and laughing, probably about some party he guessed. He knocked on the door and walked in saying a loud,''hi''
there head whirled around like connected by a single wire, both stopped laughing. May be, it was his imagination but he thought meera actually paled. Dadi ma got up from bed looking very agitated and said,'' maan? I thought you were coming back tomorrow night.''
He was surprised and then got worried,''what happened? Why are you two looking so worried?''
Meera said nothing. Dadi ma,''no nothing happened, we were just..uhh..surprised to see you back so soon. Everything is ok back at HP?''
Maan let it go, females no matter what there age tend to act weirdly sometime for no reason.''yeah, everything is o.k, in fact everyone is very happy as brij will be becoming a father very soon..''
dadi ma,'' that is great news. I will call dar ji today.''
Maan,''amma ji was saying she will call you, in fact, she was saying that she will be coming to delhi next month.''
dadi ma,''alright...you must be really tired, you should go and rest now.''
Maan,''no, I am not tired, in fact I wanted to spent some time with you. Where is dev?''
Meera,''out with friends.''
Dadi ma said,''o.k, lets go to my room , meera is going out anyway to her mother's house.'' meera looked at her in questiona and then,''oh yes um I am going there. In fact, I was thinking that umm I will stay there tonight. Dadi ma, mom wanted to meet with geet can I take her with me?''
dadi ma,''sure take her with you, after all your mother has asked to meet her, she can stay there tonight. You go now, I am sure you don't want to be late.''
dadi ma grabbed maan by arm lead him toward her room and said,''come on tell me in detail about everyone at HP, I am sure dar ji will be very happy to become a great grand father.''
Maan looked at her puzzled.

Maan escaped to his room half an hour later. He don't know what had happened to dadi ma, she had been so nervous, leaping from topic to topic, asking questions and then, forgetting what she asked. He hoped she was feeling okay. He called their family doctor and arranged for a complete check up for her tomorrow.
At that time nakul came in with a courier for him. Maan opened it, it contained direct plane tickets to Manali. At that time his phone rang, it was his friend Rohit.
Rohit,''i know you are not coming to the party but still I have sent you tickets so that may be some miracle ocuur the MSK deems to join his lowly friends in Manali for new year party.''
Maan,''why do you bother when you know me?''
Rohit,'' a tarot card reader told me that this is my lucky day, miracles can happen if I want today.''
Maan,''i know all about your tarot card readers and parties.''
Rohit,''hey there is nothing wrong with my parties, I am just not narrow minded like you.''
Maan,''then, why you want me there?''
Rohit,''you have always been my best bait to catch fishes in net.''
Maan,''honestly rohit, I don't know how come we became good friends. Any way, I am sure you can catch plenty of fishes on your own.''
Rohit,''hmm got some important meeting?''
Maan,''no.''
Rohit,''you are busy with family?or other obligations''
Maan,''no.''
Rohit,''then, I think you need mental check up?''
Maan,''really not in the mood yaar.''
Rohit,''brij isn't coming either. You two are such a spoil sports, these days even girls have more fun then you do. But its your life, I don;t know why I even bother. Still if your mood changed, call me.''
rohit shut the phone. That was rohit for you, no hi opr byes but he was a good person from heart and that counted.
Maan put the envelope in the drawer. His eyes went to the bed sidetable where a white flower was placed. He picked it up, it seemed a bit wilted. Usually geet put them in vase to keep them from wilting quickly. He sniffed the rose, it still had its characteristic odour. He put it back, a faint smile came to his face without reason. It just smelled like the perfume she used, faint but unforgtable.He turned and saw his reflection in the mirror. His smile froze on his face, he looked back at flower. Had he just picked it up and sniffed it?? he thought geet....
he angrily picked up the flower and tore the petals away, no this was not possible, he would not become weak, he could not let this happen, he threw the petals angrily on the floor. He watched them fall on floor on a cascade on a white slip which was lying on floor. He frowned and picked
it up.
It was a slip informing about ****college trip to manali,the part containing information slip was removed. He stared at the piece of paper in disbelieve. He thought about meera and dadi ma's weird attitude today. No, what he was thinking was wrong. They could not do this. But..
he angrily strode outside and stopped a passing servent.
''where is geet?''
''sir, she has gone on trip.''
''when?''
''yesterday. meera ma'm dropped her at university very early in the morning.''
Maan didn't say anything else. He turned back to his room and called the trustee who had given his personal number to Maan with assurance that he could call whenever he want.
The servant went running to dadi ma's room and told her everything. Dadi ma came worriedly to Maan's room who was packing his bag. Maan checked his flight he still had half hour to board.
He ignored dadi ma and texted rohit to send a car at airport and then switched his cell off knowing rohit will call him and maan was not in the mood to listen to him.
Dadi ma,''all her friends were going and you have gone to HP as well, so, I thought to let her go.''
Maan said nothing.
Dadi ma,''pari is younger sister of neha, she is with geet as well.''
Maan zipped his bag and got his wallet out and checked the credit cards and money. He got a couple of extra batteries for his mobile.
Dadi ma put her hand on his arm,''maan don't go there, let her enjoy herself, don't spoil her first trip, please.''
Maan angrily replied,''i am spoiling her fun?? do you have any idea what kind of crowd is gathered at new year? She cannot even come home by herself from college and you sent her on overnight trip to Manali on new year? She is my wife, my responsibility, how could you take such a decision without informing me?
Dadi ma,''you don't take any decisions about her, so somebody else has to take them. Her friends are there with her, and I have never stopped you from going on any trip and I won't stop geet either.''
Maan,''yeah, I have noticed that since I say nothing everyone is doing whatever they want and that so called friend left geet alone at college the other day. If she was responsible, she had waited till geet's driver got there. And there is lot of difference between me and geet. She is totally immature.
And I don't have time today but when we get back, we are going to have a long chat about this and tell meera to stay away from geet, I am sure she planned all this.
Dadi ma,''don't vent your anger on geet, she is innocent, we forced her to go.''
Maan,''i know how to deal with her and I also know that no one can make her do anything she doesn't want.
Geet came in her room really tired. They had arrived at Manali yesterday and then, only had the energy to get into their assigned rooms and sleep. They had woken early in the morning and since, then they were touring the hill station non stop, many students had come here before, they had left for their favourite places. some were skiing and indulging in other sports offered. Geet was contended to made a snow man while pari did skiing with others. Then, she had seen Armaan.
He had been with his friends. Geet went to him with pari to say thank you for the other day, he had smiled and accepted her thanks and introduced them (well pari introduced herself) to his friends. They were a nice crowd and included pari and her in their activities.
But now she was really tired. After eating lunch, she came back to he room. Everyone was really excited about the new year party arranged in a nearby hotel. It was rumoured that even salman Khan will be coming to this party. Geet had listened with half ear, her mind on Maan. She was missing him terribly. She had enjoyed herself immensely today, this area was so beautiful but a part of her had wished that everything would have been much much better if he was here. She sighed, how could maan be here? He was back in HP. She decided to take a nap.
