half blood prince

i think i know who the half blood prince is.

he is the brother of dumbledore and one of the members of the order of phoenix

Aberforth Dumbledore was a member of the Original Order of the Phoenix

Moody confirms this (OoTP, p. 158, Scholastic Ed):

"The little people in the photograph jostled among themselves and those hidden right at the back appeared at the forefront of the picture.

'That's Dumbledore's brother Aberforth, only time I ever met him, strange bloke'"

But, other than that, Aberforth is not a Half-Blood himself. So I dont think that he's the HBP.

look there is no explanation for the fact that why dumbledore loves half bloods so much unless he himself or his relatives are half blood

anyway jkrowling has released that the half blood prince is quite old so he cant be neville

Neville is a pure-blood; so its unlikely that he's the HBP...

The Weasleys are pureblood and they dont seem to have problems with Muggles whatsoever. Arthur is obsessed with Muggles and plugs.

Moreover, having muggles/half-bloods for relatives does not necessarily mean that you love muggles/half-bloods yourself. The Blacks are one such example of a pureblood family which banished every member who associated with Half/Mud bloods. (Tonks' mother)

As far as we know, Dumbledore isn't a half-blood and neither is his brother.

Dumbledore would be a strong candidate for the HBP if JKR has specified that its not necessary for the Prince himself should be a half-blood. Because, as Lalit82 pointed out, Dumbledore is a champion for the cause of half/mudbloods. The word "prince" cannot be simply looked at in a singular form and be associated with royalty.

Did JKR say that it was necessary for the HBP to be a half-blood himself or not?
