Well, Ayan, it seems, has chosen Ranbir over Karan, something that is causing KJo a lot of heartburn. A top source from Bollywood told this paper last evening, "Ayan aur Karan ka jhagda bahut badh gaya hai.

Ayan has spoken to some big officials at Studio 18 and pitched his project asking them if they would like to produce his film. Studio 18 has welcomed him. Talks are on. Let's see what happens."

Another source, who is from Ayan's neighbourhood, says, "We knew Ayan will stick with Ranbir. He can always move out from Dharma Productions and yet continue to make films." Ayan hasn't yet confirmed that Ranbir will star in this film. "But that is obvious. Ayan is simply holding his cards close to his chest. He wants his second big break very soon. Wake Up Sid (which starred Ranbir) is over and gone.

Even if he doesn't cast Ranbir in his film for Studio 18, the fact remains that there is very strong friction between Karan and him at this moment. Or else why would he have gone to Studio 18 when his second film was going to be with none other than Dharma Productions?"

Crossing swords with KJo though is no easy matter. We know how tough it has been for Soham Shah (of Kaal fame) to survive in Bollywood after he parted ways with his mentor. Ditto for Nikhil Advani, who hasn't set the cash registers ringing either after he had a spat with Karan after Kal Ho Naa Ho.

So this could be difficult for Mukerji, even though he can boast of some Bollywood pedigree himself. His sister Sunita is married to Ashutosh Gowariker; his cousins are Kajol and Rani Mukerji; he retains close connections with the Farhan Akhtar camp; from the latter, stylist Arjun Bhasin took much care to groom him in his teens for his debut in tinsel town, from the clothing to the hair gel.

Friends even lovingly began referring to him as a "mini-Arjun" during this period.

"Ayan need not worry. He has Ranbir on his side," said the source.

As we were going into print, a friend of Ayan's called us up to say that Ayan's second film will be for Dharma Productions and no one else. However our source confirmed that "Ayan has gone to Studio 18." Maybe KJo and his erstwhile protege can sort this out over a cup of coffee before things get too bitter

😲😲😲😲😲 Ayan I did not expect this!!!! Karan is the one who gave you a break and you turned your back on him??? Aww poor Karan! However I think Ayan is an amazingly talented director and will surely make a good film. But it's sad that he had to part ways with Karan.
