Manchester bronze medallists Pakistan defeated Malaysia, 6-5, in the Men's Hockey Preliminary Round.
Malaysian captain Kuhan Shanmuganathan opened the scoring five minutes into the first half, with Pakistan hitting back three minutes later.

Pakistan continued its relentless attack on the Malaysian defence and was rewarded when Muhammad Shabbir slotted home another goal at the 14 minute mark.
Pakistan sealed the match with a converted penalty corner in the 61st minute.
Both teams progress through to the Semi Final stage after finishing first and second in Pool B respectively.
In other Hockey action, India has defeated South Africa 2-0.
India needed to win by three or more goals to make the Semi Finals, both teams now move into the Classification phase of the tournament.
England has assured itself a place in the Hockey Semi Finals by posting a 5-1 victory over Canada, who are yet to record a win in the tournament.
England opened the scoring in the 14th minute, courtesy of a reverse-stick strike into the back-board from James Tindall. A dribble inside the circle in the 25th minute made it 2-0 at the break and a simple conversion from England's fourth penalty, six minutes after half-time, put the match out of Canada's reach.
In his 50th international, Canada's Connor Grimes scored a consolation goal for his side, with a clean strike from a penalty corner in the 49th minute. That only served to spur on England, with Matt Daly adding two field goals in the 67th and 69th minutes, taking his Games total to five.
England will now prepare for its Semi Final against Pakistan on 24 March, while Canada will face Trinidad & Tobago.
Gold-medallists Australia defeated New Zealand, 5-2, to complete the day's action at the State Netball and Hockey Centre.
After this competition the focus for both teams will be on the World Cup, with Australia's Brent Livermore saying "We're constantly challenging ourselves with a lot of new positions in the game. We're continually trying to raise the bar and challenge ourselves, while looking from here towards to the World Cup."
