Former Miss World Yukta Mookhey will now act in a television serial. And actor Rajesh Kumar, better known as Rosesh of Sarabhai v/s Sarabhai, will play the lead opposite her.
The two will be seen in a serial produced and directed by the veteran Rakesh Chowdhary who has made serials like Virasat, Aashiana and Intezar Aur Sahi among others.
This will make Mookhey the first Miss World to play a lead in a television serial. After having tried her luck in films unsuccessfully, she seems to have trained her guns at television. Incidentally, she had recently expressed her keenness to work in a television serial.
When contacted, Rajesh Kumar informed: "This is a serial based on Sarat Chandra Chatterjee's novel Gruhadaah. It is a very interesting project. And I am quite excited about working with Yukta Mookhey."
Talking about the story, he continues, "The story is set in the early 20th century. This should prove interesting for I believe the look and feel of the serial will reflect that time. The serial will be centred around two men and one woman."
Rakesh Chowdhary adds, "It is good to have a Miss World on the small screen. But it is premature to talk anything about the serial." Chowdhary is currently also producing Hari Mirchi Lal Mirchi for Doordarshan.
As for the Mookhey-starrer show, it has been tentatively named Gruhadaah. The shooting for the pilot episode will begin tomorrow and although the serial is originally set in West Bengal, it will be shot entirely in Mumbai.
