It isn't supposed to, but yes it does.Reel life does have an impact and influence on real life. hundreds of people are glued to their tellys every night to enjoy their favourite soapie so doesn't it become the right of the creatives to pass some kind of social message on thru this medium. Normal people in real life don't swap their babies. People are supposed to deal with their losses. If we are to believe that Karol Bagh is the daily life of a normal middle class family, then where does this family come from...MARS? You are destroying Simi's character. Give her some spine for heavens sake. Let the others make their own decisions. If I was in the same situation I would never do that to my brother or sister. And now we have to watch the age old drama where Anita will be nasty to Neetu because she supposedly lost her child and will consider her manhoos and won't allow her near her own child, which reminds me a little of Piya ka Ghar, remember Yashoda gave her baby away to her sister in law, and people looked down upon her for having a still born. What do you want to do? show that the lead knows what is best , she can ruin a babys life with justification that he will grow up amongst them either way. We all know Anita, she will not like the baby spending so much time at KB.Show the leads as strong people who can deal with any situation, let them motivate the rest to stand up and take charge of their own lives. you have young women watching this show let them see that its FINE to do the right thing, old ladies can learn that you dont have to be manipulative like manju to get what you want. you have the opportunity to deliver a strong message to society but NO instead you show milli loving her brother-in-law, you show the baby swap and wait the freaking cherry on the top, SIMI going to get Abhi re-married! LOL she doesn't deserve him. Kill his character get her married to Rajiv Bhallla . Let the character of Abhi rest in peace. Send neetu and omi for a long holiday. send milli to a mental home and GIVE anita and anuj 12/24 Kb and simi can be their parosi since shes married to bhalla then they can meddle in each others lives like they luv to or maybe Anita will kick Rs and Manju out then they can live with Simi and kalavati bhalla.

hi shaz06 a very well written post, agree with u that reel life does influence real life. but u know what it is not just KB alone most of the shows are far from reality. It is just the sad state of television now, there is no show realistic in its portrayal of any life. at least i havnt come across any such show, there maybe the exception. If KB ranks in top place for a stupid story line i wouldnt be surprised.
I dont know some of the most unrealistic shows still have high trp's, maybe this is all ppl want to see all drama and tamasha, but for a few exceptions like u and me and some others. there are so many ppl on this forum, but the only ppl who post are the ones who dont like the story line and are unhappy with it. I have not seen one person post of late in support of the show. The show is still running ppl are still watching. Now either they are happy with the drama becoz it keeps them on the edge, or it is the becoz of the actors or some other reason.
I personally am still watching the show becoz of neil and smriti. they r a powerhouse of talent and i love to see their expressions especially neil. but as far as storyline goes at least none of the shows on zee have impressed me in any way.

Simi's character was ruined a long time ago; this is the icing on the cake. Just watch how the writers justify her actions once again. Simi Seethi can do NO wrong. I do not think these writers know how to give the public a story where the characters are strong and deal with adversities in life. Simi does not fight, she remains passive and foolish. I agree, they should let Abhi die so he can rest in peace - away from this horrible family.

you hav a great point, but i think a lof of viewers watch these type of shows, not for a social msg, but for escapism, and for the drama-tamasha of the lives of others, hence the high ratings. i'm not saying there's anything wrong w/ that; i watch my dose of drama-filled crazy american tv. i'm not always looking to learn or find role models or social msgs from what i watch. sometimes i just want time-pass viewing (even if i hate the storyline)... but what i find wrong and have a problem w/ is if they try promote kb as a show about the typical traditional middle class indian family-- which like u said, it definitely is NOT!! let's just call it what it is, another typical indian soap opera...
that all said, i do take issue w/ the idea that the cvs think that drama-tamasha, time-pass viewing= crappy portrayal of women as sacrificial lambs.

Zahra, even on American TV, there is a point to many of the shows. Not one show would promote giving your child away to someone as a virtuous act especially someone who was not good to you. There are many things promoted on this show that are wrong, dangerous and completey insane. While you might see this as time-pass, there are a lot of women who take these shows very seriously - and that is truly scary.
