Deepika to sign for Ranbir' world tour

Rishi Kapoor is excited about son Ranbir's first global concert that will take him to 16 cities next year. The fond father says the shows, along with Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapoor and possibly Deepika Padukone, will offer freshness to the audience who are bored of seeing the same thing over and over again.

"All I can tell you is that we have Katrina, Priyanka and Shahid Kapoor on board. Deepika is likely to be on board. She hasn't been signed on yet. No Bollywood concerts have happened abroad in the last three years. Audiences abroad were bored of watching our stars perform the same songs over and over again," said Rishi.

"My boy has waited patiently for three years until he thought he was ready to face a live audience. He has turned down all offers to perform at awards function. And that's his show's USP. When actors perform at awards function these are beamed to dozens of countries across the world. Therefore there is no novelty left in watching a star dance on stage. My son has never been seen live."

The concert, that Rishi is co-producing with Moranis, will kick-start in the first week of June and go on till the third week of July. This is the first time the actor is actively involved with producing live concerts.

"And why not? This is the first time that my son will be stepping on to a live stage. I want to make sure everything goes right. So yes, I'm producing and presenting the live concerts. With my experience in live concerts I know I can be useful. I don't want anything to go wrong for my son," he said.

It is being reliably learnt that Rishi will for the first time share a public platform with his son. But he tries to dodge out of giving a categorical answer to that one.

"There's talk on this. We're thinking of a retro section. We're exploring the possibility of me and Ranbir coming together. But right now I can't tell you more on this," he said.

Besides the entourage mentioned earlier, a singer from Pakistan is also being finalised.

While the first lap of Ranbir's world tour will take him to Europe, America and Canada, the second world tour - expected in 2011 - will take the young actor to the Gulf and South Africa.

In bollywood, truth is sometimes stranger than fiction.

How else can you explain the possibility of Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone sharing the same stage, even as Shahid Kapur shakes a leg with Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor in the same show? Yet, that's what seems to be in store for all these current and former lovers. In July 2011, they are set to embark on Bollywood's biggest world tour in recent times. Put simply, it means Kareena would be touring with her ex- boyfriend Shahid while his current flame Priyanka will be there too.

Similarly, Deepika will probably set the stage on fire while ex- boyfriend Ranbir waits backstage. Not that he'd mind it. For Katrina, his reported ' close' friend these days, will keep him company.

"Ranbir, Deepika and Katrina have confirmed their participation. I'm sure Shahid, Priyanka and Kareena will also agree because they are good friends. We will reveal the details in October," says Ali Morani of Cineyug, the organisers of the event. The tour will take the stars to 16 cities across the world.

Shahid has been talking about the tour for some time. He said he would take it up only if the dates don't clash with the release of his father Pankaj Kapur's directorial debut, Mausam. But insiders say Shahid is likely to go on the tour since the Moranis are "very keen". The organisers are keen on Shahid because he is a great dancer. Also, getting Ranbir and Shahid to perform together would be great for ticket sales. Getting the women who have featured in their love lives, of course, will be the icing on the cake.

By July next year, Ranbir will have had two major releases - Anjaana Anjaani, opening next week, and Imtiaz Ali's Rock Star. Shahid's Mausam is expected to release before July. Katrina's Tees Maar Khan, Kareena's Golmaal 3 and Priyanka's Saat Khoon Maaf will also be out by then.

Deepika, for her sake, should not join this team. Less coverage will be given to the actual performances and more will be talked about alleged drama and catfights. Plus, as much as I support exes being friends, this is just a mighty awkward situation especially with the Ranbir-Katrina rumors on overdrive. No thank you.
