Hype abt SR in soaps- good idea?

Hi friends,
I thought i would ask you all veterans of Hindi soaps, esp Star One soaps, whether you think it's a good idea for a show to create so much hype about the lead pair coming together... what is known in IF as SR (suhaag raat). At least 2 shows I followed kinda lost their way, once the lead pair consummated their relationship. It was built up as the most important point in the story, that once it happened, the creative team itself seemed at loss for ideas on how to take the story forward. The audience also seem to lose interest.

We all know that in real life, making a success of a relationship is much more than just physical intimacy. Why do TV serials show a pair get married, then keep them apart for 6-8 months, make the audience go crazy for their SR, and then rush through that, and then completely lose track of the plot?

I don't want RBO to go that way. Considering the hype they created abt Khanak's dream scene and the disappointment felt by fans, am worried that here too, Shaan-Khanak's SR would be seen as the most important point in the story (whereas there are so many other important issues- like Nattie, Suraj's family's debt etc)...

Please share your views.

I think you are right. But the problem is you cant keep the main leads play hide and seek with eachother. Somewhere in the line they do have to confess their love and then marriage and then the C night. And to continue the story they need to create circumstances.

I guess the imporant thing the CV's have to remember that refrain from second, thrid marriage for any of the lead actors and no flings or extra marital relationships. They must show the lead pairs have a strong bond and no one can break it. And also must make the Khanak a strong girl and not the one who keeps crying all the time.

The story line can be Khanak and Shaan return home and Shaan realises how Madhavi and Khushboo cheated him, Khanak and Natasha. He should leave the house and then should show how Khanak and Shaan are fighting all the odds and building their nest. ANd we can have those hotttt scenes in between.

Basically I dont want any more marriages of lead pairs other than Shaan and Khanak. And I want them to be together all the time.

Agree. The writers do tend to lose track of the plot once a lead pair consummates their relationship in the physical sense. Whilst some serials become absolutely boring after these tracks, some serials separate the pair so many times that every time they reunite, the hype builds up.😆

RBO until now has not disappointed me. The progression of Khanak and Shantanu's relationship has been showcased very well and has been very logical to a large extreme. However, having said this and knowing that Rucha's character is going to go on a break, I do not know what will happen next. This is actually a very good opportunity for the CVs to tie up all the loose ends which I hope they do.

Where Friday's episode was concerned, the disappointment was mainly because dream ke baad hum logon ko aur Shanak scenes nahin mile na...isi liye....we Shanak fans are all gluttons where their scenes are concerned 😊😊

hey dear gaayu just returned from a relatives funtion and immeditely got the good news that new promos are out.

reg ur expressing concern on suhaag raat(SR) being made the important aspect of any TV serial

let me tell u as a former watcher of star plus serials as well that it is an integral part of hindi

serials,unlike regional soaps., where it is only a couple of scenes...

Having said that I cannot deny the fact that people are rather curious to know when the two

oncerned would consummate their marriage be it any show that inludes me too honestly,

.There are numerous examples i can give u where they dont show the SR immediately.Let me tell

u by clues two of them the one at 9 p.m. and the other at 10.30 p.m on star plus.,currently

These two shows delayed teh SR and now it is over in both for the lead pairs One show had done

long time back but only after considerable episodes and and the other just before 20 days or so

after 190 episodes..

This only shows the longer they delay the Suhaag raat(SR) scene the more the benefit for the

channel .Because once it is over then there may not eb that much attraction for the

people

.However the above shows even after SR are doing well., and so one cannot completely

say that SR once shown will not be the end of interesting things.

In odhani just because the lead pairs were at logger heads and are now only started to get along

with other and now that they know they are in love and MOST IMPORTANT they are a married

couple people are expecting SR to be a major attraction.

I agree to u that it should not be the major attraction.,BUT THE REALITY IS THAT IT IS.

But as far as RBO is concerned i fully trust the series director swapnaji being a female and the

cvs who have done such an excellent job till date will not make SR alone as teh main point when

theer are so many problems waiting to be solved.

BUT I MUST APPRECIATE ODHANI that even though the couple are quite young they have not

always shown physical attraction as the main reason but the mental compatability and the fun

loving nature, their innocence and pure heart tu to be the major attractiona nd physical only

followed much later.

NOW i have a complaint with some of the people here

1. u are all telling u do not want sas-bahu type

\2. u are telling donot want too much of dumbos

3.some are telling hate Mr. agarwal.

4.everybody seems to be happy with natasha moving out that includes me.

If u add up all then u land up in only one thing ALLSHANAK SCENES ONLY

.Now gaayu tell me what else is left in the story to make an episode

.If people tell they dont want the fourpoints that i have mentioned ..

honestly sometimes I am unable to understand the mindset of some of the people here.

If they do not want anything that only means they want SHANAK only for the full episode?

is it possible that way daily? then how will the story move? we have to be practical from the story

point of view and not dismiss each everything otther than shank as boring.

for a progression in the story we have to patiently watch the scenes not involving shanak

too.,because those are the scenes which are going to give us more and more shanak moments.

BUT HAVING SAID THIS I am pretty confident that swapnaji ,RBO cvs and the team would do their

best to keep our interests

.ATleast I hope so.

OMG II have written a long lecture.but being a besharm and also the topic of SR in TV serials being one of my

favourites I wrote so much.But i think i have said somethings other than SR too. so thanx dear

P.S an interesting thing that i read in starplus 10.30 p.m shows forum comes to my mind

but it would become tooooo long It was really a very nice post with all very good points that made

me admire thetruth in the words of the writer.But shall write that later since already this post is is very long.

Totally agreeing with you here, Gaayu

Yes it happens in telly wood, but I can't believe that a married couple to live for more than years without consumating their marriages. I feel that the story could be moved forward after SR. Or is it the last thing in a married couple's life?😕😕😕

In real life also, misunderstandings happen, but it doesn't mean that the married couples have to be seperated for six to eight months or either the husband or wife gets married to someone else..😕😕😕

If a souple cannot live together better show them being seperated for good. I know we are discussing about reel life, but I believe it should make some sense.

When talking about RBO, I hope nothing bad happens with this serial. Yes, there are so many things we can consider with the future track like you have mentioned they can bring up what had happened after Suraj's death, the cheating done by Leeches and Mogambo and even SD is there.

I know that most of the members don't like my idea of saying Shanak's seperation after Natasha's re-entry which will happen later. I accept it, but I do respect all your feelings and though I too never want them to be seperated, I have this fear that there could be a temporary seperation of Shanak after knowing that Mogambo blackmailed Khanak. I feel that some misunderstandings might happen at that point, or else, I don't think of any reason Natasha re-entering the show

agree with u abt why friday's epi was a let down for some... it was not that the dream sequence was not shown well. It was followed by repetitive dialogues by SD and BD which felt disconnected from the previous scene...

u r right that some shows do seem to keep the audience interested even after lead pair's SR. I haven't seen the shows u r talking abt, but know which ones they are... hope RBO also manages to keep the audience interested for long....

I also trust Swapnaji and RBO creative team. Till now, they have not disappointed us, except for the editing bloopers, which is probably the channel's fault.

Friends, do share instances of shows which managed to keep the story going even after SR... don't mention names but give a gist of the story if u can... thanx....

I understand what u mean... of course we cannot have only Shantanu and Khanak all the time in the show... that wud actually be very boring. No two people live in a vacuum in the real world. we are surrounded by family, friends, colleagues, neighbours etc... so different characters should come and go in a serial. But like sg1982 said, hopefully RBO will lead the way in showing the lead pair always working together, and not remarry a million times, or marry other people or whatever...

One way to reduce the hype abt SR would be to show it ShaNak style- comical, funny, the two fighting even on that night😆 that would make it memorable, and at the same time, not make it look like there is nothing else to be said for the story. Just a suggestion for the CVs...

You ppl are right...after SR scene most of the soaps loose their tracks and somehow the charm betwn the lead pair reduces and they become monotonous. its not everytime craetive's fault...we viewers are partially responsible for that....we all love to see the hide and seek things..." thode isharein, todhi nasdikiyan....." we all njoy those things and after a physical relation those things wont have that much charm....it is so obvious. then it is creatives turn that how they tackle this situation. I dont want to take it name but their is a soap in star one...where they showed SR betwn one of the lead pairs before marriage....but they carried their relationsghip so well after that night that at least I never felt that its boring . I trust RBO creatives they have always taken care of our emotions...I strongly feel that even after SR, Shanak wl be able to hold back their old charisma.
