A survey carried out by Brand Licensing Europe 2010 has revealed the top TV shows and film characters with the most successful licensing programmes.
BLE asked over 450 senior licensing professionals to rate a range of film and television shows and characters in terms of licensing success. The Simpsons took 31 per cent of the vote, followed by Sesame Street (26 per cent) and Looney Tunes (ten per cent).
Harry Potter was voted the most powerful licensed film character of all time, taking 20.8 per cent. Luke Skywalker from Star Wars was a close second with 20.6 per cent, followed by Superman on 20.1 per cent.
Twilight's Edward Cullen (played by Robert Pattinson) took over 32 per cent of the vote as the most profitable film character of 2010 , followed by Toy Story's Buzz Lightyear (27 per cent) and Harry Potter (18 per cent).
The Muppets was voted the TV show most likely to offer the best licensing opportunities should it be revived, with some 35 per cent of respondents putting it ahead of Star Trek (24 per cent) and Friends (seven per cent).
