Abhishek Kapoor and Shabbir Ahluwalia recall their near death experiences on Khatron Ke Khiladi
The rumour mills are buzzing with "news" that khiladi Shabbir Ahluwalia has won Colors' Fear Factor but the television actor isn't confirming anything. On a visit to Chandigarh with fellow contestant Abhishek Kapoor, director of Rock On!!, all Ahluwalia says is "I love doing stunts but the show is full of fierce competitors and sportsmen. Heck, even the girls we've been paired with are loving it." He adds that the driving force is the male ego: "If he can do it, why not me? That's the trigger."
Relaxing at Taj Chandigarh, they recount near-death experiences on the show — dropping hundreds of feet, swimming through a claustrophobic winding tunnel and fighting bulls among others. The conversation comes round to anchor Priyanka Chopra, and Ahluwalia says, "Previous host Akshay Kumar is a known daredevil but Priyanka surprised us all. Initially, none of the boys was intimidated by her but the girl's really on top of her game."
Kapoor says the show came at the right time for him. "I was cooped up in a room, writing, ideating and developing scripts with my team for two years. Being a filmmaker is a lonely job. When Colors came up with the show, I jumped at the chance," he says.
He saw it as an opportunity to meet new people, strike bonds and, most importantly, "Push myself to the limit and face my fears". "It is very difficult to adapt a book into a two-and-a-half-hour-long film. There are many aspects and characters so it is a challenging task," he says.
