Rahatji to Nusratji - Son or nephew

Not sure but I thought Shatrughan Sinha kept saying Rahatji is Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan saab's son. Isn't he actually Nusratji's nephew?

Sorry if I made a mistake in understanding Shatruji but I think he said that multiple times.

😆 I was not sure if I had heard that wrong. I didn't think Shatruji could have made such a mistake especially since he is in the hindi mopvie industry and Nusratji and Rahatji have both made such noteworthy contributions.

Rahat has been adopted by Nusrat as his son....actually he is nephew but nusrat did not have a son and therefore adopted rahat to carry on his singing legacy !!!

Thanks Susan. I saw that adoption bit yesterday when I was reading an article. Like you said, that adoption was more to ensure a clear succession for the Qawwali party. Somehow don't think that Shatrughan Sinha was talking about the relation in that sense.

Rahat's father(NFAK's brother) himself was a very great singer. I was listening to NFAK's concerts on youtube and loved his style as accompanying vocalist. I think I just like the Sufi style of singing - so soulful and peaceful.

Yes i have heard all the songs on you tube too...have u seen the video in which rahat's son is sitting on stage in a concert of rahat's? so cute....he is bound to become a good singer....

generally people refer to nusrat as rahat's father i feel....

Yes I saw that one:-) Plus the one where his son is singing (not a concert but some interview I guess at home). He is sooo cute.. If they continue with tradition, then I guess he will definitely be trained to become a singer to continue the qawwali tradition.
