Walkouts seem to be the flavour of the season for TV reality show. The walkout by Ismail Darbar, followed by the walkout of 3 contestants from the SGMP challenge 2005 is still very fresh in our memories…and now the Judges walkout in the Indian Idol show…coincidence…I don't think so
Too much of similarities in the two walk outs…agitated family members and friends in the audiences, shouting and screaming and exchange of words between the Judges and audience…hosts looking flustered and trying to pacify…everything getting hunky dory after a while…I think the whole thing was pretty much scripted…what made the performances so real was the fact that the voted out contestant in this case happened to be a truly talented guy…so defending him came easy to the Judges…and for the same reason the passions flying high on both sides was much more natural…
II2 has not really seen the kind of success that it had in the last season..a lot of comparisons were made between the singers on the show to the contestants of SGMP of Zee. TRPs have been low…things didn't seem to be working out…so when they got this opportunity in the form of a very popular singer getting the lowest votes they turned it into a drama…
I am not accusing the channel of manipulating votes…just saying that they grabbed this opportunity to play on the emotions of the gullible audience with a very ulterior motive
We all know what happened in SGMP…the supporters of the singer from Assam came back with a vengeance….crores of votes were polled …Zee Laughed its way to the banks…How did it matter who won or who lost??
Sony will now be hoping for more sms revenues as people start pressing the panic button to save their favourites….
