LAHORE: Karachi-based singer Faakhir, whose song 'Mahi Vay' is topping the music charts in Pakistan, will travel to India next week to record a remixed version of one of his songs for an Indian music channel named Etc.
Talking to Daily Times on the telephone from Karachi on Tuesday, Faakhir said that Etc would remix a song from his album Mantra under T-series, one of India's largest recording labels. He said that Oriental Star Agency, a UK-based music company, would also remix one of his songs, adding that he would make a trip to the UK next month to record it. He would not disclose the names of the songs before their remixed versions were released.
He said that he would perform in a concert in Mumbai next week. He said that he was the only singer from Pakistan to have been invited to perform in the concert, adding that all the other artists were Indians.
Faakhir said that he had been asked to act in an Indian film by Rahul Sud, who directed his video Jiya na jaye. He said that he had turned down the offer. Asked why he refused the role, he said, "Simply, because I don't know how to act." He said that renowned Indian model Aparna Kumar had acted in Jiya na jaye and hoped to cast other Indian models and actresses in future videos.
"It's sad that free music concerts have become popular in Pakistan," he said. He said that private companies organise music concerts and invite VIPs for free. He said that music enthusiasts could easily afford concert tickets priced between Rs 100 and Rs 200 rather then attending them for free.
He said that he would tour Punjab in June. He said that the tour had been titled 'Mantra Concert Tour' and he would hold concerts in Faisalabad on the 9th, Lahore on the 10th and Islamabad on the 12th. He said that he would also hold a concert in Rawalpindi, but the date had not been finalised. He said that under the 'Mantra Concert Tour', he would also perform in Karachi on June 17.
