@terenaina- thnx..glad that u missed me...I asm really busy with my friends and cousins these days..holidays so fun trips, parties and all..dotn even get enough time to sleep...anyways, I havent seen that siggy..tell me how can I see it... really want to use some new siggies because I haven't made siggies for a while now... ;)

Endhiran: Rajnikanth, Aishwarya Rai In A R Rahman Musical

The drumming-up for Endhiran, the upcoming Rajnikanth starrer, is a throwback to the hype around the star's own mid-2007 blockbuster Sivaji: The Boss. Endhiran brings director Shankar and Academy Award-winning composer A R Rahman together again with the superstar. This time, the buzz has doubled with the casting of Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan as Endhiran's female lead. When Rahman's much-expected music score for the film releases in late July -- there are reports of a gala launch in Kuala Lumpur, a first for the Tamil film industry -- the hype will hit level next.

Endhiran: Robot Gone Rogue?

Endhiran, according to reports, traces the story of a scientist and a robot gone rogue. If Shankar persists with his tradition, this could be the filmmaker's ambitious nod to the Frankenstein formula, jazzed up with well-mounted stunts and stunningly-shot music videos. Robotics and songs shot in Peru could sound an unholy mix. But not quite for Shankar, who has successfully married the vigilante genre with the song-and-dance drill in his earlier outings. Late Tamil writer Sujatha had collaborated with Shankar in the initial stages of the project.

The film, that reportedly cost in the excess of Rs 150 crore ($USD 32 mn), is also the costliest Indian film. A good part of the budget has reportedly been spent on the extensive CG and other special effects. Produced by Sun Pictures, a wing of south India's powerful Sun media group, Endhiran has been in the news ever since the film was launched. Shankar had, initially, tied up with Shah Rukh Khan to make the film in Hindi but after the deal failed, he returned to his Sivaji hero, Rajnikanth.

Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan's casting as the female lead has already worked well for the makers of Endhiran, considering the hype the film has generated outside the south of India. Shankar will be hoping to repeat the success of Sivaji, that also emerged a surprise box-office winner in the northerns parts of India, with the national appeal of Aishwarya Rai coming in as a plus.

The trade has maintained that the casting makes sense considering that with the massive budget involved -- before Sivaji, the Rajnikanth aura had remained a largely south Indian phenomenon -- the makers will do well with Aishwarya Rai's global brand value. The progress of Endhiran has been keenly followed by Rajnikanth's fans over a couple of years. Shankar has posted on his blog that the shoot has been wrapped up but a final word on the release date is not out yet.

A R Rahman, Endhiran And The "Leaks"

A R Rahman's music score for the film is expected to be big draw -- the musician has collaborated in all Shankar films, barring one, creating chart-toppers all through -- after it releases later in the month. But much earlier, clips that were purportedly leaked from the soundtrack had surfaced on YouTube, only to be disowned by the makers later. According to reports, the audio rights of Endhiran were bagged for around Rs eight crore ($USD 1.7 mn), a huge price by the standards of film industries in south India.

Bystanders at the shoot, however, have continued to capture and upload images and videos from the locations, adding to the hype around the film. Fans have also followed Tweets by people involved in the film, including Academy Award-winning sound mixer Resul Pookkutty.

Endhiran has a top-of-the-line crew, including art director Sabu Cyril and action co-ordinator Peter Hein, working on it along with CG experts from Hollywood. The film also stars ace Hindi film actor Danny Denzongpa.

Yes I badly want to make a few new siggies with the recent photos...will make them as soon as I am free and get my PS... :)

Aishwarya looks pretty but the guy is ermm; they make a very odd couple.
