Absolutely fabulous... It was such a pleasure seeing geet and maan marries and i can't wait to see thier romance also... maan is such a sweet guy...

Nothing Can Keep Us Apart

Part 19 - I want...

Short background info. This story was started before the whole Mr. Chopra/Party/Rahul track was started. Mr. Chopra is being introduced now and the basic character and story elements surrounding him are mostly the same.

It was Friday evening, and Savitri had whisked Geet away to her rooms for an after dinner tete-a-tete, while Maan finished up some preliminary work for a new client, Mr. Chopra. Savitri wanted to hear everything that her bahu had been doing since she went back to work. Geet told her how she and Maan had agreed on their new office design, and would soon be moving to a temporary office, once the remodeling started. Geet relayed how puzzled she was by Maan's insistence on having a couch, but Savitri brushed it off as one of Maan's peculiarities. Geet then explained how nervous she had been about hiring a new secretary, but that in the end it had been much easier than expected.

"There were two people who really stood out after the interviews, but in the end it was what their previous bosses had to say that helped me to choose. I think that even Maan thought that my choice was the best." Savitri could tell that Maan's good opinion made Geet happy, which in turn made Savitri happy.

"Tell me about your choice, Bahu."

"Her name is Muskaan Grewal. She's in Delhi because her husband is an intern at one of the hospitals, but they're originally from Mumbai. She was working as a secretary for an accounting firm, before she was let go. Her boss said that she was such a good employee, they would have done anything to keep her, but with the resent economic problems, they just couldn't afford to keep her on."

"That's a shame," said Savitri, as she smiled at the animated way Geet expressed herself.

"Do you know the best thing about her? She doesn't talk very much. I know Maan liked that fact the most. He used to be angry at me all the time for talking to much. He still gets angry about others talking a lot. I don't know why he doesn't seem bothered by my talking anymore."

"Don't you?" questioned Savitri with a knowing smile.

Geet just shook her head no. Then she smiled and said, "Maybe he got used to me."

Savitri just laughed, thinking it was lovely that Geet still retained so much innocence, even after all the difficulties she had gone through. After composing herself, Savitri walked over to one of her cupboards, and brought out several packages, which she placed on the couch next to Geet.

"Dadiji, what is all this?" enquired Geet.

"These are some gifts sent to you from some of our friends and family." At Geet's blank look, Savitri added, "They sent them to my new bahu, because of Maan's and your marriage."

"Oh, Dadiji, I wish they hadn't. There was no need."

"Nonsense! It's tradition, Beta. Now go on, and start opening them up."

As Geet opened the gifts, she saw that they either contained very expensive sarees, or very expensive jewelry sets. When she was about to open the last gift, she noticed that it had a note that accompanied it. Taking the note out of it's envelope she read:

Welcome to the newest bahu of the Singh family. We were sorry that we were out of the country during your wedding, but our thoughts were with you, and are with you still. Savitri Didi has sung your praises to us, and we trust her judgment implicitly. We look forward to meeting the woman who finally captured our family's elusive sher, when you and Maan attend our party next week. Best wishes, always.

The note was signed Ram Nihal Singh and Devya Ram Nihal Singh

"Dadiji, I don't understand. Isn't this Rajkumarji, who Maan is doing the joint project with Mr. Sharma for? Why are he and his wife sending me gifts?"

"Geet beta, didn't you realize the connection? Ram is my cousin. Maan was given the name Singh because of my family. The Singhs are now your family also."

"What is this about attending a party?"

"Didn't Maan tell you about it?" Geet shook her head no.

Geet walked into Maan's home office with the note still in hand, marched up to where he was bent over his desk, and shoved the note right in his face.

"Yeh kya hai?" Maan asked in irritation.

Geet indirectly responded by asking back, "Rajkumarji Ram Nihal Singh and his wife are your relatives? Your family is royalty and you never told me? They've invited us to a party and you never thought to tell me about that?"

Maan gave a sigh, put down the paper in his hand and said, "I've been so busy I just didn't think about it."

"Really! You've been working on this joint project with the Sharma Corporation for Rajkumarji for the past two months and in that whole time is never occurred to you to mention the relationship, Mr. Maan SINGH Khurana?"

"Geet," said Maan, starting to become upset, "in case you haven't realized, I had a lot of other things occupying my mind the last few weeks." Narrowing his eyes and walking toward her with his arms crossed, he continued, "We've only been married 4 days. When, exactly, did I have time to tell you my entire family history?"

Geet just frowned and raised her gaze upwards. "Kyun, Babaji, kyun? Why did you make my husband a prince? As if my life isn't complicated enough."

"I am not a prince!" growled Maan, as he came to a stop in front of her.

"Oh? you certainly act like one often enough, and that's not meant as a compliment. And me? I'm just a punjabi village girl who disowned her family. Hey, Babaji! Do you have any idea what people will say about us, especially the baby?"

Maan's gaze instantly sharpened dangerously as he said, "Why, has anyone said anything to upset you?"

Maan breathed a silent sigh of relief as she said, "No," However, he wasn't too happy to hear what she said next. "I can just imagine the kinds of things they will say... make that whisper cruelly. Why did he marry HER? They obviously had to get married. What kind of morals does SHE have?"

Geet would have continued, but for Maan's, "Stop it! Just stop it, Geet! Don't say things like that."

"Why not? It's what people will think." When she saw Maan clench his jaws, she cried, "What do you want from me?"

"I want...." Maan looked straight into Geet's eyes and lost his train of thought. Reluctantly, he tore his gaze away and began again. "I want you to stop worrying about what other people think. You can't base your decisions on how the world will look at you for them. People will always find 100 ways to talk bad about anyone, which is wrong. But if you start letting what they say affect you, then that is also wrong. Neither of us has committed any fault, and I don't want you acting as if we have." Maan looked back at Geet and saw that she was considering his words.

"I...I guess you're right. It doesn't matter what other people think. As long as we know we haven't done anything wrong, that is what's important." Geet smiled at Maan, glad to have someone around who could give such good advice. Then she remembered her original purpose for coming to see him, and became upset again.

"The least you could do is say sorry for not telling me about the party. I mean, it's next week! How am I supposed to get ready for a party like this in one week? How do I act? What do I say?". Geet put her hands over her mouth in horror as she asked, "What do I wear?"

Maan placed his hand reassuringly on Geet's shoulder as he said, "Geet, there's no need to feel stressed. Dadima can help you with all of that. Also, it's not like you'll be going by yourself. I'll be there with you."

Geet was not made to feel any better by this statement. She continued to worry about what kind of impression she will make on her new relatives.

The 3rd exclusive interview with laxmi2010, author of Maaneet FF - Nothing Can Keep Us Apart

I'd like to start this interview off with a bit of a one-sided conversation. So, how many people are feeling bad right now at Maan's decisions in the serial (for future reference, denying his feelings for Geet, wanting to stop thinking about her, and replacing her in the Chopra project with Sasha😡)? [Interjection: One good thing about Maan replacing Geet with Sasha. I think this is excellent proof that Maan doesn't give two hoots for Sasha, otherwise he would never consider her someone safe to work with, and someone that he is not going to behave in a certain way with, like he does with Geet.] Well, to compensate for that, I'm am going to try to write some really nice episodes, with plenty of good Maaneet scenes, between now and Monday, which will end with the start of the "Singh Party" track. Hopefully this party will turn out to be a favorite with you guys. Does this sound good? Okay, on to the questions.

Question: I wonder why Maan was so hell bent on having the couch in his office? submitted by amotlymileo

Answer: Some of you have made some guesses. I will only say that one of those ideas is correct, but you'll just have to wait and see which one.

Question: Will she be jealous of the new secretary? submitted by *mittu*

Answer: No. The new secretary is conveniently married (although that was done by me, Geet would never choose someone just because they were married, she's too fair for that). Plus, Maan is too honorable, and too much in love (although you may have noticed that he hasn't said or thought anything specifically about the L word) to ever give Geet cause to be jealous.

Question: Where are those devils, Dev and NT? Aren't they upto something evil coming soon??? Is Dev and NT coming back in the story? submitted by JhankaaR000 and *mittu*

Answer: Kalli Dhokaybaaz and Churailtara😡 (I get a kick out of those names) are somewhere else, trying to stay out of jail. If Churailtara was the author, they would never come back, but yeah, eventually they will be back in the story🤢. Gosh, I really hate those two. You know how Faz does her Skip for all their scenes in her Bumping topics? Yeah, that's pretty much me too. If I could skip them in this story I would, but instead I did the next best thing and had them run away from the law. Of course they are up to something evil. When are they not? However, that something evil is not necessarily anything to do with Geet or Maan.

Question: Will Dev try to ascertain his rights on Geet's baby? submitted by *mittu*

Answer: See above question to understand why Dev isn't really going to be around to try that. However, even if he does, Maan would be all over him, preventing that. Now way is Maan going to let that devil have any contact with Maan's baby!

Question: I was wondering can u have a ch with geet maan fight abt what to name the baby n that maan wants a girl just like geet? submitted by lalmirch28

Answer: You know, that would be some very cute scenes. However, by the time they would get around to doing that, some other things are going to crop up, and demand their attention. However, in the future...............................

Question: Will Brij come for revenge? submitted by *mittu*

Answer: Pay special notice to my emphasis. Brij is still in jail. Brij will not be coming out of jail. So, Brij will not be able to get revenge. However, Brij might still affect Maaneet in some way. That's all I'm prepared to say.

Question: I want u describe abt geet's dressing after wedding.....is she still wearing shalwar kameez or sari??? submitted by anufa

Answer: You may have noticed that I don't really describe clothing, furniture, things like that. I tend to be pretty plain in my personal taste, so I don't really have the ability to do justice to the clothing and surroundings of the characters. My thinking is that now Geet is married to Maan, she would definitely be wearing more expensive and elegant clothing, not that what she was wearing before wasn't great. However, I know some people were wanting her to dress smarter, better, whatever. So, I give you all permission imagine her clothes the way you would like them to be. In terms of salwars versus saree, I see Geet sticking with salwars for every day wear, and sarees for other, more special occasions. Over time, she would probably change a bit, but I see her wanting to stick to what is familiar.

Question: You named the new secretary.....

Answer: Yes, I named her Muskaan Grewal, after Drashti's character in DMG. I had a tough time trying to come up with a unique name, and I thought you all might get a kick out of the connection. Also, since she had to be the secretary, I made her husband the doctor.😃

Question: Does this mean you watch DMG?

Answer: Um..... no. Nope, sorry DMG fans, I don't watch it.

Question: Anything else you'd like to say?

Answer: I'd like to find out how many people would like me to put all the parts together in one big downloadable freebie, whenever I happen to finish, sometime in the future. Do you like this idea?
