I think what you should do is ask your best friends for forgiveness, and makes her see how wrong you were for deserting her and now you realise who your true friend are. And it is up to her if she wants you back in her life or not.

Don't cry and concentrate on your studies, what matter the most is for her to forgive you, and to do that you must talk to her and make her understand how wrong you were. And you will not make this mistake again and as i said before it is upto her now if she wants you back in her life or not. But the best thing to do is simply talk to her, am sure she will forgive you in the end. Because at it is said once a best friends always a best friend... ;)
