I may have mentioned to some of you guys, I used to volunteer at an abused women's clinic/shelter.
Some of my most heart breaking, wrenching, happy moments were experienced there. Talking to those strong women, who have been through so much suffering, honestly it was bitter sweet, as there is no other way to describe it.
I was telling Shruthi this and I thought I would share with everyone.
There was one woman there, who was an amazing young lady, who had been constantly abused by her husband, kicked out of the house by him, his parents would just sit and watch this and at one point he almost took a gun to her.
She is now the spokesperson for the clinic.
One of her speeches has stuck in my mind ever since and I would like to share...
And it went something like this.

"When you raise your hand on someone, or even degrade them emotionally or in any way, you are asserting your superiority and labeling them as inferior. You basically treat them like 'an animal' because you are saying, you have no rights, as I am taking them away from you and telling you that: I set out what is right for you.
In that moment I realized, that I am human and so is everyone else, and at the very least I deserve to be treated like one, how can someone be so inhumane and then claim to love me the next second? Only humanity gives birth to true love, when we respect someone as a human, only then can we begin loving them."
Her speech was published and I am so proud of her.
And she proceeded to say this verse (yes its from the Bible but it speaks to all...on next post sorry wouldn't let me paste):

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. . .And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. - excerpts from
1 Corinthians 13:4-13

Thank you Priti for reading. :)
She got published in the local newspaper.
I even told her about the show Pratigya, and she said she would be interested in watching, its been a long time since that happened to her and she has since become a career woman and much stronger.

Yes I just loved the part where she went, any time he raises his hand he is asserting he is superior and also if he doesn't have basic humanity how can he love?

Maybe that is why I am so in to civil rights, because they protect our basic rights as humans, and when we see someone as human and respect all their rights it is truly then that we can love them. Not when we degrade them or take those away...

That's true.Infact ppl like Krishna who physically assaults Pratigya and the next minute happens to say that he loves her or tells her that he loves and will love her while abusing her are actually psycopaths. They need help.Even calling them saddists is an understatement.

Yes, it is never right. Love has to come from basic human respect. After hearing some stories, i was at a loss for words for some of those abusers.

Just imagine what our plight will be when we get to hear the kind of atrocities which millions of other women would have gone through and are still facing even as we speak.

Nav, great experience I must say,for you to stand for the rights with so much of conviction.😊

And ur friend is a strong girl!! The speech was wonderful, it shows how much she has suffered to pour it out, which would touch so many hearts and shake the inner conscience.👏👏👏
Krishna's behaviour is close to her experience, this is an obsessive behaviour, like shruti said , they are Psychos...have to be treated...they need help.
But, in the Thakur family with all illiterates, they could hardly accept if anything is wrong with any of the Thakur's .More than illiteracy, its their Huge Ego & the so- called age-old traditions which they clutch to.If anything could get wrong , then they can only blam ethe women folk..pathetic lot!!!
