Cyrus Sahukar |
After his role as the radio jockey in Rang De Basanti, MTV VJ Cyrus Sahukar has been "noticed" and is considering his big screen options.
But at the moment, "there are other prior commitments that I have to complete," he says.
The latest on Sahukar's plate is a new show, Piddhu, an animated-cum-live action character, stuffed with the latest Bollywood gossip.
The show will air on MTV from today, at 12 noon and midnight. Like Navjot Singh Siddhu's Siddhuisms, Piddhu has his Piddhuisms at hand, as a ready reckoner.
Glued to role
"Piddhu is not exactly a take-off on Sidhu," says Sahukar. "Piddhu is an icon in his own right. He is a funny bloke, well-versed in film info."
Turning into Piddhu wasn't easy for Sahukar. "It was very uncomfortable wearing the turban, the beard and the net. And the glue they used to stick on the beard and moustache was the same as the one used to stick soles on shoes!"
Chat mates
Sahukar was also considered to play the chat show host Shahrukh, in Sony's weekly Batliwalla House No 43. This was before the show was converted into Kudkudiya House No 43.
"Yes, I did shoot for an episode with Maninee De — she was a riot! Ultimately, the channel had other plans," says Sahukar, who is also into stand-up comedy.
