Abhay, Karisma's injuries stall Paalki

Karisma Tanna and Abhay Vakil
The stars seem to have turned their back on Zee's Paalkhi. We don't mean the actors, but the planets seem to be causing havoc on the sets of the show through severe injuries to both lead actors.

Pain's back

Abhay Vakil, who plays the lead in the role of the twin brothers Pranjal and Daksh, has suffered from a severe back problem for the last 10 years.

But recently, the actor had an intense attack, with the pain returning to his lower back. "It was the most excruciating agony I have ever gone through. In the past, I have been afflicted by this ailment, but recently, it became so bad that I could barely move."

Abhay had to lie down on the floor for more than 45 minutes and was incapable of movement.

"The doctor has advised bedrest for four weeks, but there is no way I can use that liberty." The actor has been taking painkillers and has continued shooting. "I have been shooting for more than 16 hours, nonstop, but there is no way I can sit at home — because it would affect the show."

Leg infected

On the other end, Karisma Tanna, who plays Palak opposite Abhay, has her right leg swollen and bandaged after a boil near her ankle burst, causing infection in the area.

"I can hardly stand, and the pain is just too much. When I got the boil, I thought it would be one of those usual ones that go away, but it slowly started bloating up. My mom asked me to go to the doctor immediately."

It was found that there was pus and heavy infection in her right ankle. "My leg had bloated to the size of an elephant's; it was damn scary. Now the area has been cleaned, but I have been told not to exert my leg at all."

Even though she's advised bedrest, the actress takes breaks to sit down and relax her leg between shots. "I have to keep the leg on a chair, but it still hurts a lot." On her and Abhay's injuries coinciding, she says, "It's spooky in a way, as both of us are in major pain. But it hasn't dampened our spirits at all. As they say, the show must go on."
