Sonam Kapoor to play Sania Mirza in her upcoming film

New Delhi,March 31, 2010 (ANI):Tennis champ Sania Mirza is not only in the news for her impending marriage but also for a film based on her life. And the actor chosen to portray her on the reel life is none other than the young Sonam Kapoor.

She will play a character strikingly similar to Sania in Anees Bazmee's romcom Thank You.The film's shooting starts mid-April in Canada.

Just like Sania,Sonam plays a young,attractive tennis champ and falls in love with a guy,who is completely wrong for her.She soon realises her mistake and turns back before it's too late.

Sonam is Sania!

Much has been talked about Aneez Bazmee's Thank You and now all is set to start. Thank You stars Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Bobby Deol. It's a romantic comedy.

The story connects it to Indian Tennis Player Sania Mirza. You must be thinking how? Not because she is getting married on the same day when the film will go on the floors. But Sonam Kapoor will play a character strikingly similar to Sania.

"She plays a sweet and sporty tennis player in the film. Sonam plays a state-level tennis champ in Canada so she cannot afford to look amateurish while playing the game in my film. I don't expect her to become a tennis champ in a week but she should look like a professional," says Anees Bazmee.

He also adds that, "Sonam is a bright actress and I know she will pick up soon and Akshay plays the Casanova who dates lots of girls until Sonam enters his life. It's a light comedy film and we will start shooting in April in Canada. So now I am packing my bags and getting ready."
