Tell me about it. My parents used to follow it but now they think it's stupid. Whenever they see me watching CID, they give me a lecture that they won't ask me questions on CID in job interviews and how I am turning into a criminal by watching CID. BTW, 'nesha' is also called 'nasha' in Hindi.

My Family knows I have strong likings by now. I have not faced so much with CID but I have faced similar reactions and ridiculing for my love for SRK. I used at the receiving end of ridiculing by my cousins all the time. So I started hiding my likings but then after sometime I felt why am I hiding, there is nothing to be ashamed of. I love SRK since 17-18 years now. I love CID for 11-12 years and I have watched it for 6-7 hours non-stop during these re-runs, sometimes even more. But no one said anything, no making fun or any lecturing either. Now its different, I guess everyone has by now realized that my views don't change. Secondly I think they also realize that I have not made wrong choices and I have only learned positives from them.

Regarding CID as a show and standards. I don't watch English shows/movies so I can't compare but I have grown up on Bollywood, the melodrama, OTT at times and I used to love it. CID gives me a similar old world feel. All these new very close to reality stuff does not touch me as much as CID does. That does not mean I like stupid stuff, there has to be some logic. I shot CID satisfies my entertainment needs, till its on, I don't need to look else where.

of course you can't compare with the american shows. They are technologically advanced.

I personally never had problems but my parents first priority is to study and then have fun... My main reason to watch is because I love these investigation, forensic lab stuff and last but definetly not the least.. trio ( ACP, Abhijit, and Daya😳) Also Inspector Asha but she left😭

Even i started watching CID from last year and so soon i got addicted to it..man even during my exams days i used to watch atleast 2-3 episodes but i wont complain that it has effected my studies as i study during night time😉..i jus couldn't realise how soon it became a part of my routine...CID has hypnotised me lol..well in beginning my parents used to say that dont watch so much of CID as it may have a negative impact on you coz of the crimes they show n all...but you see am quite stubborn and now sometimes when i switch off the television after watching 1 or 2 episodes they ask me wats wrong with u?u aren't watching cid?? is everything ok??Today even they watch CID with me sometimes.I really think am very lucky that my parents let me to watch CID.

I guess I've been lucky in that I've never really been mocked or ridiculed for my choice in tv/movies. My Mom and I used to watch CID together for many years. In fact, we had very similar preferences: remember the show Shapath I mentioned in another thread? Well we both liked that show as well. Now my Dad and I don't exactly share the same tastes when it comes to these things but he never tried to stop me or lectured me or anything. Sure he sometimes says something like "Arrey, this show is still on after 12 years!?" and we might share some laughs but it's all in good fun. It's the same with my friends: there's the good-natured jokes and all but not outright mocking or anything.

As far as standards go, I don't think we should judge Western and Desi shows on the same standards. They cater to very different audiences, there are huge differences in budget, the television industry itself is very different and so on and so forth. Sure CID is less realistic but it's good escapist fun. Even shows like CSI, SVU, Bones etc that are relatively closer to reality take a lot of liberties as well. The officers and their lives are very glamourized and the legal/police procedures are often over-simplified. Still they have their positives and CID has its unique positive qualities. 😊
