Old concepts rehashed again

In the new serial Sasural Genda Phool, the lead actress Ragini Khanna screeches so much that you wonder when she is going to burst a blood vessel and drop dead. The situations are silly, the guy she is going to marry appears to be a wimp. She is born into a wealthy family, the man lives in a middle class joint household and this certainly does not appear to be a match made in heaven. But that's what scriptwriters who are running out of concepts require ' a melodramatic senseless plot, which they will twist and turn to such ridiculous lengths that you simply give up on the show.
Suddenly there seem to be so many new serials as the battle for TRPs continues. They are heavily advertised, but somehow never live up to their first few episodes. In fact some instances, even the first episode like in the case of Jamunia fails to grab attention. A poor girl lives with her evil aunt and uncle, who want to get her married to the malik of a cursed haveli. Apparently according to legend, whoever marries into that haveli will die and the uncle and aunt are only too happy to get rid of their niece, whom they torture after trying to burn her with a hot iron. Clichd, melodramatic and so senseless.
Wonder who even watches these regressive soaps. If the producers are targeting the rural interiors of India, shouldn't they be looking at educating the masses instead of reinforcing dated and medieval concepts?
The channels seem to be in such a tearing hurry to introduce new serials that no thought seems to be given to the content whatsoever, the same old concepts are being recycled on every channel. The only difference being that new faces are being introduced. Unfortunately, most of these youngsters can barely act and their shelf life lasts as long as the serial is on air.
