Hey anwesha,
True, it happens in real life. Even I have witnessed many of my friends going through such experiences, some have recovered quickly and some had to struggle. So, from all that experience what I can say is that since childhood girls are been brought up by the parents in a very careful and protective manner.
No matter the girl is brought up in a city or in a village, no matter how modern are the parents or how orthodox they may be, when it comes to a girl child they set endless number of boundaries and want to keep her safe.
Whereas, boys are let free outside as they believe, boys learn things when they mingle outside.
Then when the first love or attraction or infatuation happens to the girl, she finds the door to her freedom which was locked by her parents. And she becomes completely dependent upon him as the one person in her life is giving her new opportunities. She forgets/avoids her friends, her family, become ignorant and what not.
But once the love bubble bursts, then she faces reality and has to come to terms as to what is good for her and the people related to her.
