Round 3: Shaan

one of my most favourite songs these days. the main thing i love about this song is its smoothness and the wonderful lyrics. judging this song, my sentiments are same as they were about sonu's kal ho naa ho. the song has been subtly sung very well. i have to judge the singing, there are not so many difficult parts to sing here expect some of the high points. otherwise, the song moves on going straightly. would have loved to give it a 10 on 10, but being a judge, will have to have to give it a 9.

Lovely pahaadi number composed by Shantanu Moitra.

Shaan handles the high notes very well and adds some lovely harkats. Importantly, Shaan reaches the low notes confidently, too - something which is more challenging for male singers than for female singers.

But what makes this song so touching is the expression and voice quality that only Shaan can bring. There were even hints of a soft, breathy projection to give a soulful effect.

Overall, an 8.5 rounded up to 9!

I am glad I am not the judge. Although singing wise I think its bit easy than Tumse Milke or Awarapan but I gave Kal Ho Naa Ho a 10 due to the emotions it generates. The same hold true for this song also. The first time I heard this song I thought this song is talking about childhood and made me nostalgic. Although when I saw the movie it was a different picture. But I think one can co-relate this song to his/her childhood. Just pay attention to its lyrics.

Great voice quality, great feel, and he handled the difficult portions pretty well. This was all-around a great performance from Shaan, and for the first time in this competition Shaan steps up with a good song I feel. The 1st 2 Rounds he has relied on his heavy audience support, but now has also started singing spectacular. I liked his high notes, felt he was better than usual at them. And Shaan has displayed his singing talent in this song.
