When Pavitra Rishta started off , it was refreshingly different.
The situations, characters and their depiction was believable, likeable and the kind with whom one could empathise. The characters were the kind we would normally encounter all around us : at home, in the neighbourhood, at your workplace, in the market. They were not necessarily perfect human beings but were just like us ie normally well-intentioned people with some grey-black spots and weaknessess, who break rules when they feel threatened by circumstances.
This was indeed the strength of the story which charmed and attracted a devoted viewership.
Slowly the story started changing. Where there were nearly normal situations / misunderstandings / disagreements between normal people which get resolved or accepted with time or circumstances, we started getting too much of one particular characteristic / habit of each person. The either positive or negative characteristic got repeated again and again and again till the viewers could safely bet on what that person is likely to say or do, And as someone mentioned in this forum, the story is stretching like chewing gum beyond the limit where it can hold the viewers interest.
Some enticingly dhamakedar situations are dangled in the precaps only to fizzle out during the actual episodes. It has happened so many times now that viewers have become cynical and are in the danger of getting bored. In my own circle of dedicated viewers, many have stopped watching regularly or are watching it occasionally with detachment or do not care any more. The reactions are like "Oh no, not again !!!, So boring and predictable ". Only I am sticking on somewhat reluctantly.
This is what happens when characters turn into caricatures.
