Mitrano ani Maitrinino, 27th feb is declared as Marathi Bhasha Din and there are going to be many functions wrt to this. Pls share your views , articles generously as we are all proud Marathi speaking community.

ABHIMAN GEET TO BE RELEASED SOON
500 classical musicians and one Marathi song

Thane: More than 500 exponents of classical music from across the country will sing a Marathi song on Saturday.The milestone feat is a composition by late Marathi poet Suresh Bhat,which will be unveiled at a grand music programme in Thane's Dadoji Kondeo stadium.

The composition has been single-handedly woven by musician Kaushal Inamdar who combined his skills in classical music and effective communication to create what he calls Marathi Abhiman Geet over 18 months.

The song is scheduled for release on February 27,which is celebrated as Marathi Bhasha Din,in the memory of legendary Marathi poet V V Shirwadar,popularly known as Kusumagraj.

Inamdar's dream project includes 112 leading singers,including Suresh Wadkar,Ravindra Sathe,Hriharan,Shanker Mahadevan,Mahalaxmi Iyer,Vaishali Samant to child stars such as Mugdha Vaishyampayan and Kartiki Gaikwad. The chorus group of the Marathi Abhiman Geet comprises 350 people whose sound track was recorded at the Y B Chavan auditorium after a day-long rehearsal.

For Inamdar,this is just the beginning. I now plan to hold a Marathi orchestra at the Brabornue stadium in 2011. If they can have an English Philharmonic Orchestra, why not Marathi, asked Inamdar,whose world is only about music, which has no place for politics or politicians. This entire effort of mine has been funded by the 2,000 people who contributed Rs 5,000 each because they believed in me and my cause. We avoided any political support and in fact rejected offers to finance our project, said Inamdar.

Prerna Pratisthan, a Thane-based voluntary group working in education and social sector,is the event's chief organiser. To the scores of skeptics who questioned his initiative and asked if this song would help restore pride in the Marathi language, Inamdar's reaction was simple and apt. If you intend to trek the Himalayas, the first step is out of the safe cocoon of your house, he said. Leading Marathi singer Salil Kulkarni said,The song is self-inspiring and something to feel proud about. Inamdar worked tirelessly with a certain zeal because he believed in it and we had faith in him.
