god i guess i'm going blind or how come i missed this post...this is something i had been dying to read ...read yes, coz i'm really not that good in putting all my thoughts in rightfully chosen words
and you anu did a great job of it...

no certainly he is not a ideal example to show what or how a father should be...
when the show started this was not the character of bauji that was put forth to us..
he was one who was shown to bring smile on his daughters faces to lighten up their fears
...fears of facing a world outside their known space....

he cannot be the same bauji who does not believe in his daughter's judgment and neither his own
upbringing....he is shown biased ....heavily biased...he does not trusts nupur's intelligence, her faith and her love for mayank ...nor gives mayank a moment to explain his point and declares him misfit for his daughter over a situation that he knows not completely of....

ok he does not agree of mayank but that does not mean that the very next moment he agrees to marry off his daughter to anyone of his choice and not just he demands nupur to forget mayank but does even bother to ask her opinion on the major most decision of her life and passes on his judgment...

even when mayank tries to explain to him that they din't plan to marry and nupur had decided that she wont hurt him ..rather do as he wished..instead of thinking about the pain he is putting his daughter into and being proud of having her ...he goes on to tell mayank that if she had not chosen me over you she could have lost me forever..god what kind of father blackmails his child to act to his whims..

when eventually he asks mayank to marry nupur that to is for his own selfish reasons not for her happiness alone.....
and instead of understanding ..cherishing and being proud of having got a son-in-law like mayank..who like a true man stood by his daughter...showed his respect to him and takes responsibility of his love and his actions and marries nupur then and there...he goes on to insult him rather than give him/them his blessings....

even with gunjan in hospital there is shown no change in him ..he still is same towards mayank....not even after seeing his daughter happily settled and seeing her man do all that in his hands and beyond to keep her pleased moves him a bit...
he accepts nupur that too is coz of gunjan not for nupur alone.....

i can go on and on about him ...but remembering all the past episodes makes me so angry that i better stop before my comments get termed as character bashing...hope it has not already turned into one

@ Nandit...whoa..you are angry...welcome to the club....Absolutely...I cannot begin to understand him...rather CVs...is it how they want to show parents in our lives....
For once...I am glad My dad was a gem of a man....and I thank the heavens above....this fictional character never is seen nor will be seen in the future in any real life character....then I would rather be adopted or an orphan....
You can post as much as you want ...go head....

I guess beacuse Gunjan connects to Nupur more than with Bauji....
When children wake up from a troubled sleep they always ask for the mother's hand..or that parent who they are closer to..Nupur is the mother figure in her life...a mother, sister. friend, guide, support....Bauji was hardly there...😕

I won't totally agree with "Elders are always shown as negativre and insensible, stone hearted characters" in MJHT. We have a great example in Shilpa Aunty to contradict this. She was a great mother. Babuji was a great father whol loved his daughters very much and who was very sensible. They hae=ve just totally changed his character now but earlier he was good too. Even Dia and Uday's dad was good. He did not have much of a role but he used to love his kids and nieces very much (Diwali scene of Nupur and Gunjan for the first time in Mumbai).
So, they used to show elders in good manner but now they have been butchering their character. Bui is evil, Babuji has become egoistic, Shilpa Aunty nowhere to be seen, Adhiraj's dad and dadi annoying. Only princi is good elder character right now.
Also, I always wondered,, why does most of them have only one parent. Gunur does not have mom, Mayank no dad, Adhiraj no mom, Dia, Uday: No mom shown. I guess screenspace problem 😃

Ah,,,MR Shashi Bhushan, the double faced 😃 bauji...

I m exceedingly proud of how he stood by his double standards and never deviated from the path :)

I really hope he doesnt accept Mayank, that would be such a wrong turn 😃

very well said anu, certainly the beautiful relationship and bond of a father needs to be redefined then.
