I got to say, if I was Neetu and I showed up at my house pregnant, I don't think I would be writing on the internet today. Perhaps times have changed, but seriously, that much?
I also don't think I would have even been able to give the attitude Neetu has given to her family. Not just me, but none of my friends - Muslim, Hindu or Christian would have been able to fact their family. Not an iota of anger except the minor conflict between Manju and Neetu but nothing else. Neither Mr. Seethi nor Manju are really ugly about the whole matter. I don't even see a slap across Neetu's face.
I am astonished, really astonished at the light heartedness approach towards Neetu. The family was uglier with Simi when they found out she was in love with Abhi. I am really amazed as to how "nice" they've been. I don't know if it is just me who feels this is rather odd. Feedback?

We really are in telepathy mode today 😊 - was gonna start a post on the same.
I am also puzzled about the family's reaction to Neetu's pregnancy. I would expect a conservative, society conscious, god-fearing, overreacting mum like Manju to faint in shock at the very least, or attempt suicide at worst! Hell, she fainted twice during Abhi-Simi's roka!
RS has gone all stony, which actually is his typical first reaction.
Anuj's reaction was also lukewarm - however little he may care for his sis, he surely wouldn't want such a scandal in his family. In line with his character, he should also be worried about what his in-laws would make of this.
Looks like the CV team has shifted focus to the Dagars and forgotten to give the Sethis proper scenes and lines!

If I were to turn up pregnant, I may not be living to tell my family I am pregnant.
Manju overreacted for Simi's love for Abhi. I feel that was deliberate. So she is not able to enact fainting now.Wish she had fainted when Daadi came home. By then Papa Sethi could have informed Daggars about Abhi-Simi
And living in India, I have not come across in my immediate or remote neighbourhood about unwed pregnancy either. Episodes of running away for love, court marriage all is heard of. Now-a-days children are quite well informed about teenage and unwed pregnancy. So chances are low, we find a case like this. At least you dont hear it in big cities and metropolitan cities. There is so much of awareness on television also regarding pills for unwanted pregnancy and such. So hard to find such issues in households.
By the way where did they give time to react. No private moment after that. Papa Sethi and Abhi went straight to police station.By the time Neetu is brought home,Daggars knock at 12/24. So no time to react only. Welll Manju was planning to really shower her with her fists and hands, but our mademoiselle caught hold of her mom in all her strength.
I bet Simi is definetely stong. I remember Simi caught hold of Anuj when Mili and Anuj were fighting in the initial episodes of Rajeev Bhalla. She gave one push to Abhi at the park first when they almost kissed. Her second great push was at the hospital throwing Abhi away. Now she controlled her mom in alll her strength. Well girl you are of some use at least.
Don't know what CVs are upto.

This is definitely a blew up by the CVs. I do not know any family in New Delhi who will be so easy on the un-wed mother; specially when a family is so religious.

I am in agreement with you.
Two things- it just goes to show how much Simi had to suffer at the hands of her family, just cuz she had fallen in love. Your eldest daughter falling for someone younger in age cannot be compared to your youngest falling pregnant out of wedlock! Therefore Simi's treatment has always annoyed me. The Sethi family and their reactions towards Simi have always been extreme. Sometimes I even wonder if she really belongs to the family!
Also, you rightly mentioned that the family had a light hearted reaction towards Neetu. I totally agree that it is all rather odd. For this the writers are solely to be blamed. The entire situation seems quite unrealistic. I would've expected emotions to run high and some high voltage drama. Instead, the creative team has written a script which seems quite disconnected from reality.
Btw, good post :)
