Hey guys,

Soon coming up is the 1st year anniversary of our very own, Jyoti! Its hard to believe its been a year since Jyoti first premiered on air. To make the most out of this special occasions, I thought... why not leave it up to you guys to decide? 😉

Feel free to contribute any ideas for interesting and unique games, contests, or anything else you think would be fun to have! If we all put our heads together, I'm sure we can think up of something that we'd be interested in participating in as well 😊

So... go ahead and post any ideas in this post!

I was thinking of having (a) thread/s where members post fan fics, taking the serial as it stood at any point it was last year, and then making the story follow their twists.

We've all at various points been belly-aching about the sado-masochism sometimes demonstrated on this show, whether it was the Brij-Sushma saga, Brij's stalking Jyoti leading to her expulsion, CM's treatment of Jyoti, et al. 😡😡😡 Well, we could celebrate this anniversary by each of us re-writing the story line - taking the serial as it ran up to various points, and then spawning it off w/ our own ideas.

Some examples (obviously not from the same threads):

Brij was caught by Jyoti cheating w/ another girl even before he turned his attention on Sushma, causing not only a break-up, but everyone in the Sharma family hating him, and thereby sparing Sushma the entire saga she went thru 👏
In the current story, Sushma was the one to first marry. Instead, re-write the Devika episode where she was first proposed, and have her elope that night, and wake up as Sudha as Uday's bride the next morning, both frightened and confused. That way, Sudha is the first of the Sharmas to marry
Have Jyoti working and earning over time, w/ no thought of marriage, and even throw in your own ideas on her romance, maybe creating and picking new characters. Similarly, have Sushma study and go through the whole story w/ her never marrying, although you may give her a romance. Maybe keep people guessing whether at the end of the serial, Jyoti will marry or not 😆😆
Making it all lovey-dovey may not make for attractive reading, so how about this - have Deepu propose that match for Panchi before the exams, so that it goes ahead, and his machinitions being discovered too late. 😡😡
Change the dynamics in the Vashisth family as well - in fact, if one wishes, don't have CM and Uday in the Vashisth family at all.

The above ideas are just examples from different scenarios, and some of them may be mutually exclusive, while others aren't. Nonetheless, I think these what-if scenarios and others could be combined to make for an interesting story-line.

I'd leave it to others to determine whether they wanted all these fan fics collected in 1 thread, or have different members start different fan fic threads under their names, where they post their stories, and other members suggest tweaks to those wherever possible. Suggestion here: don't necessarily discuss the real story while constructing these scenarios: write your own story, and then read it.

At the end of it all, have a poll competition on the winner of these different fan-fic storylines.

P.S. When is the anniversary? February 16th?

I guess that we can just have a bunch of itty bitty contests here and there, and just announce the winners along with the celebreation post.

Maybe like distortion and caption contests and stuff.

I also like Virsha's idea of fanfictios, since there aren't any on the forum

Those are all fabulous ideas... but I really want to hear from people whether or not they'd be interested in participating. We've tried contests in the past, and I can't say we got a lot of participation. So anyone interested in participating? Pls do post here as well then!

I do like the idea of smaller contests like distortion, spot the difference, crossword, word search, and maybe even ispy. The advantage of these wud be that there wud be less effort on the members part which I think wud promise us more participation.

@Vrisha - Even though the idea of FFs are really unique, I think we should save that contest for a time when our forum is a little more active. I'm not sure how much members wud participate in a contest that wud require so much effort. So because of that, I think smaller contests wud be a better idea.

I welcome critiques of my suggestion above. However, Kruthika, do you think this forum is going to be any more active in future? All the major events in the serial - marriages of Jyoti & Sudha, break-up and arrest of Brij, kicking out, are done. From what I can tell, forum activity peaked during Jyoti's marriage, and slumped ever since. Would, say, Jyoti having a baby make it really buzz?

Well, we can always keep our fingers crossed, can't we? Anyway... even though I think ur idea was brilliant, I just don't think that we will get the participation that such a contest really deserves. I mean, what fun wud it be if we got only 1 or 2 people to contribute?

I'm more keen on the idea of smaller contests since I think it requires less effort from the members part and doesn't take a lot of work... which I think will attract more members' participation.
