thank you for all your posts...I love reading your comments.

I must admit I do wear my mangalsutra when I wear a saree - which is not often.

Only wear a saree when attending weddings, navatri or diwali celebrations.

I dont think sindoor would go with my jeans and tshirt look. My husband may get a shock seeing me in this getup!!!

haha..

Thanks a ton dear and u must reply more often . Whether u agree or not , for my opinions r often controversial and not keeping in with popular trend . 😊

About the dress thing you were spot on . I mean look at Shravni . In a White ..........i repeat , White salwar khameez . Why shud a young girl like her wear such clothes ? Widows in Mumbai DO NOT WEAR THESE TYPE OF CLOTHES AT ALL . SO why this false display ? It is not eighteenth century . On thirteenth day after mourning , wives don colourful clothes and catch rush hour commutes to get back to their jobs........and what nonsense they r showing
?

Kool, you are such a lucid writer and so refreshingly modern in your thinking that it is a pleasure to have a conversation with you. Agreed soaps are not be taken seriously but I see them as a commentary on contemporary social values. It is sad that most of them are regressive and promote a view of the world where women either stay at home or are totally unprofessional when employed. (stay at home mums can be progressive, so don't mistake me) When they are not doormats, they are scheming and manipulative, never missing a chance to bring ruin upon others.
PR started out beautifully. Manav was middleclass and shown often at work. Archana, also middle class, started working. All the problems were credible and could have been solved with some effort. It could have developed into a beautiful love story. But just when it seemed to have veered off the old Ekta track, the old traits returned. The totally unbelievable jail scenes. Sachin's death. Marriage between Shravani and Manav. Each of these is totally outlandish.
What happened to Archu's job? Why can't Shravani take care of herself? She's educated and well off. And how can she even consider marrying her brother-in-law, and act so coy and bashful -- dowry scene with sav-- despite knowing how much Manav loves Archu?. Why are women shown as such losers? Shrav may get Manav but at what cost?
I like Archu for her honesty, loyalty and commitment. And I like Varsha because she has loads of attitude without the aid of make-up or vampish attires. If I still watch PR it is because despite all the drawbacks its characters are almost life-like. Let's hope this aspect is not ruined as the script unfolds in the future.

Not just that vidyasu , from day one of pregnancy Shravni is doing nothing except sit and mooch around . The moment she has become pregnant , she is just sitting at home , not managing garage accounts or even going to night school . Neither is she doing household chores at home .

This is the common misconception shown in Hindi serials that once a woman becomes pregnant she shud sit with her feet up like an Egyptian princess . Inspite of her so called complications vaguely referred to in this serial , she obviously has not been advised bed rest by doctor as she is travelling to and fro to meet docs , her dad , distributing prasad to children in chawl etc . Then why the hell is she not doing her job ? All she is doing is standing near the stove while SAvita makes rotis .

Same with Archu . Such a young girl , why wear those bordered Amma saris and sit at home instead of going to her job and nightschool and avoiding abuse and doing something fruitful?

Not just that , even Varsha , who was earlier doing job is sitting at home , taking a break it seems .

Why this insistence on women just sitting at home ? Kuch bhi hua , women take first excuse in these serials to sit at home . Ladies work in office till last day before their delivery so they can save up on maternal leave and the best way to forget a bad affair like Ashwin is to immerse oneself totally in work . And pregnant ladies need lots of exercise , not mooching around like couch potatoes !

bhavni thanks for your compliments.

the dress sense in serials is awful . Frankly , Rasika is more stylish than Manju who wears gajras constantly in her hair without any occasion , like some fishwife in a fishmarket or something . I love gajras and they r fine on occasions like weddings etc , but mAnju seems to sleep with them . Rasika's silk sarees , string of pearls and satin nightgowns r instead a pleasure to the eyes .

thanks koolsadhu...

I totally agree that pregnant women should be active...I worked till I was 8 months pregnant and then went on maternity leave...this is the norm in the uk..

You get to have more maternity leave..

Shravani will get depressed spending all that time in the house,(doing nothing) I know I would.

Archana should continue with her education..and it will give her a break from all that abuse.

I am surprised Varsha has not got a new job..I thought they had money probs due to pension being stopped?
