I just saw it and can't resist .

The most awful part of this scene was Ram Ram Rajaram in the background as Manav 'liberated ' Shravani by filling her maang with sindoor . Ram Ram Rajaram , it went furiously , in a rising crescendo in the background till Manav 's thumb touched Shravani's forehead . Ram Ram rajaram , Ram Ram Rajaram ! I was almost expecting Shravani to close her eyes and shudder in ecstacy at being liberated or something , with sitar music in the background . But she stood transfixed like a wet chicken and it was Manav who closed his eyes as trumpets blew . It reminded me of the physical consummation scenes we see in typical Hindi movies , with conches and trumpets in the background . Amazing how hindi directors have this unique gift of showing something with sexual connotatiions in a most Pavitra , ethereal way . They so quickly wrap it with the cloak of trumpets and mantras in a fraction of a second that we are left wondering if the scene we saw was blatantly sexual or thoroughly holy .

To top it the scene was witnessed with ghoulish hunger by ALL .

Kaka........stunned with his mouth open . [ The poor decent bachelor was clearly confused .]

Damodar trying various ways of screwing up his mouth in crying attempts.

Savita with triumphant looks towards Archu .

Archu in dumb disbelief .[ And here I mean dumb as in stupid .]

Girish .......well , he frankly looked as if he had eaten far too many meduvadas and did not know exactly which expression to register .

Manav looked like a sweaty Raja Ram

Shravani was the Ahilya that was liberated .

I take back my anger on PR creatives . A most entertaining scene . Except for the fact that Marathi people never put sindoor in their mang like northies or Bengalis , only kunku between eyebrows and the traditional , main , mangalsutra , everything was perfect .

PS : Be ready for watching both Shravni and Archu keeping Karva Chauth fast for Manav next . Again , Marathi people do NOT do karva Chauth , they do Vat Savitri like shown last time , but hey , who knows . Either way we will get two women fasting for Raja Ram .

BTW ......The mantra Raja Ram in the background was inappropriate for the scene . Ram is known as Ek patnivrata.........meaning , belonging to one wife only . They shud have put in a Krishna mantra . Krishna was the one who had married sixteen thousand women imprisoned by the demon Narakasura to give them a place in society after he slayed the demon and freed them .

I really dont have the courage ... such a pathetic scene and it earned my favourite character Manav everybody's ire. I don't know what these creatives got by accomplishing this.

I dont even know why they drag the gods in all this?? Did they want to show that like Lord Ram chose responsibility but was always Sita's only, Manav is also choosing responsibility but will be Archana's forever (married from heart, never having any relation with any other woman)? If so, then I think they failed very badly cos everyone, including me, is angry with Manav.
Anyway, this is beyond my reasoning.
Although I do like the concept of 'Amar Prem', love not bound by marriage or society, but I think this sindoor filling thing was not at all easy to digest. It would have been better if they had shown the sindoor flying away or Damodar pushing Manav away or something like that. We wud have rejoiced at Bappa's miracle and grace.
Your comments were hilarious... especially that 'sweaty Raja Ram'.

Great post Kools, but one thing I don't understand is...

after all of this hungama, how are ArMan going to visit RaDev in Delhi and dance at their pre-honeymoon party together? What's the set-up for that going to be from PR's end? Are the PR and CB viewers just supposed to forget that Manav bharoed Shravani's mang with sindoor and now has two wives? Maybe our dear Raja Ram wants to visit his pal Devdas, who was also at one time a do patni wala, and get some advice?

Actually Sandeepa they shud have a bachelors party kinda thingy .........just guys hanging out ........Dev , Shekhar from Agle Janam , now Manav who has joined the ranks .......and they shud all discuss their two wives . Swap experiences and mANAV CUD RECEIVE TIPS FROM SENIORS .

On a serious note , it is pathetic that none of the heroes have only one wife .

It is also pathetic that none of the wives share two husbands ! How chauvinistic .

By the way koolsadhu, does putting sindoor mean marriage?
Someone in the forum said that it symbolizes marriage... but two people are said to be married when they take the oath in front of god in the form of seven rounds of the holy fire etc. In other religions too, marriage is completed when the oath is taken in front of Christ, Allah or Guru Granth Sahib, or in modern times, a high authority like a judge.
Am really not clear on all this.
My personal opinion: These are all traditions, which ought to be respected and have sentimental value, if there is no respect, love and trust in a relationship, then you are not married, then it is a farce. Then all that putting sindoor etc has no value.

Thats my point too Sandeepa..........how on earth are they going to show Manava and Archana dancing and singing in CB...........mind you with loads of things that can potentially happen during the party, we should not be that surprised.
Kools your "It is also pathetic that none of the wives share two husbands ! "............is no longer applicable to CB............we still do not know how many people have Vishaka got married to in Mumbai............so Vishaka might have broken the rules in the sense that she might have multiple husbands.

It can be construed as something as nonsensical as the mandir mein shaadi done by heroes who die leaving impregnated wives and then society doesnt accept it .

Even more than God ........these symbolizing acts of putting sindoor , tying mangalsutra and exchanging wedding rings hold value when they r done in front of SOCIETY . And Society in the form of people was indeed present there .

The marraiges done secretly in front of god's idol in a temple by exchanging garlands hold no value but if done by a priest , do hold value as priest can testify in court .

Basically marraige is a social event , and the union of a man and woman is accepted and blessed by society to avoid sexual , moral chaos as man is an anuimal and if unchecked there will be havoc in society . Hence the promise of god and hence the presence of society .

If Manju finds this and reports Manav he will be in for bigamy . Coz all the people who witnessed it will have to tell truth on oath in court and if they lie it is perjury .

Had he done it alone with no one else that same symbolic act wud have held no value .
