Everyone including award show organizers in Bollywood are KJo and srk ass kissers. That's a fact. So I don't put too much stock in what they have to say. In any any case, its people who pay for their tickets who matter. Not those who can watch it for free via their connections. So meh! Doesn't bother me at all.

As for Zarine's so called resemblance, I don't see it either. Katrina herself has said, if Salman cast Zarine because she looks like me, then he needs glasses. 😆 And even if she does, why does that have to mean the movie will flop? It doesn't make any sense to me.

Salman's big fight with producer
Salman's major fight with producer Vijay Galani over the climax of Veer is definitely going to make or break the period drama.
The script of Veer was penned by Salman almost 20 years ago. The actor was inspired by the story of Taras Bulba, and Salman was keen on making a period drama for years. His last stint with scriptwriting was Suryavanshi (1992), which was a major failure at the box office. Due to this, Salman had put Veer on an indefinite hold. However, the actor finally teamed up with Gadar director Anil Sharma and the script was set into motion.

However, Salman and Anil did have their share of tiffs when it came to the script. Anil had wanted to make several changes to the script, but Salman wouldn't budge. A source present on the sets even says, "Anil went on to change several sequences in the script, but Salman would walk out of sets in a fury." It seems like the same has happened yet again, this time with Salman and producer Vijay Galani. "Galani wanted to make a few changes in the climax of the film, but Salman had envisioned it in a certain manner. Galani had wanted the scene to have more of the newbie actress Zarine Khan, but Salman was trying to avoid many shots of her in the end. Considering the fact that Zarine was made to put on a lot of weight in the film, he didn't want to make her look bad in the climax. Also, the scene in itself has more to do with Salman forming the crux of the storyline and he didn't want to tamper with it. Galani, however, wasn't going to listen to Salman any more. He went ahead with his point of view, leaving Salman in a state of rage," revealed the source. It was Salman who made Zarine go on a chocolate diet, making her gain close to 10 kilos in order to make her look the role she is playing - that of a princess. Salman even said in a recent interview, 'He (Vijay Galani) and I had a few arguments regarding the film. It's been happening right since we were filming the movie.'

Salman then walked out of the editing studio and refused to do any promotions of the film there on. Galani didn't say much, but confirmed the tiff, saying, "Yes, there were some differences, but such things happen." The most affected in this hullabaloo are the financers, who've put lakhs into the advertising of the film. With losses increasing each day, producers are working hard to get Salman back on the promotional campaign. Let's hope Sallu Miyan does the needful or his most ambitious project will suffer terribly at the Box Office.

Anil Sharma admits to creative differences with Salman during Veer

Salman Khan has first gone to his friend Sanjay Leela Bhansali to direct Taras Bulba. When Sanjay declined, Salman bitterly vowed to make the same story with another director, and make it as an epic comparable with Sanjay's vision.

Anil Sharma was chosen because of Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. "But please don't expect Gadar in Veer. Gadar was far more dramatic and emotional. Veer is targeted more at today's younger audiences," warns the director.

Stories about differences between Salman Khan and his director Anil Sharma during the making of Veer abound.

Speaking on the issue for the first time Anil Sharma admits there were differences. "Salman was not just the main actor in Veer, he was also the writer. We had a lot of differences of opinion. The way he narrated the story and the way I perceived it as a director were different. Moreover, I brought in other writers Shailesh Verma, Shaktimaan (who wrote my Gadar) and Krishna Raghav. Raghav did all the research. So Salman's story has been interpreted in the way I thought right."

Salman insisted that Anil Sharma watch his source of inspiration the Yul-Brynner-Tony Curtis 1962 film Taras Bulba. "But we couldn't get a single print of the film. So I had to make do with the images that I had in my mind from childhood. They made the film in Russia last year (2009). I saw that version. Taras Bulba was the story of the father Yul Brynner, played by Mithun Chakraborty in my film. Veer is not the father's story. It's the son Salman's story. And we had to relocate the entire story from 16th century Russia to Colonial India."

While Salman Khan has become the face of Veer, the film's director Anil Sharma has taken a backseat so far.

Speaking up finally he says, "For three years now, all kinds of things have been said and written about Veer and my relationship with the project and actors. The truth is, we were making a very difficult film. And there were bound to be creative differences. But we sorted it out."

Anil admits he never wanted Salman's favourite composers Sajid -Wajid to do the music of Veer. "I had heard their tunes in his earlier films and I was sure Sajid -Wajid weren't the right people for a period drama like Veer. I met them reluctantly and was surprised by their understanding of Hindustani music. We worked really well together. They were delighted to be told to compose a thumri or a bandish for the first time. And the fact that I could convince Gulzar Saab to work with Sajid-Wajid was a stroke of luck."

Says Anil Sharma, "We've reduced the length to approximately 2 hours 45 minutes. Only one 15-second action scene was removed by the censors. We had actually retained longer versions of the action sequences than we needed because the censors always shorten action scenes. To our surprise they didn't touch anything!"

my statement has nothing to do with the article in particular...so no logic indeed...i just said it abt the movie overall....it looks like a "kisna" type, rather than a "jodha akbar" type to me...😊

Anil Sharma talks about Veer
Salman Khan has worked hard on exploiting every possible event for the promotion of his movie Veer.
He's on TV and in the newspapers every day doing something or the other. However, the director of the movie has been all but invisible. Anil Sharma, the director of the movie, says that his absence is the result of bitterness."We had differences because Salman was not just the hero in Veer, he was also the writer. We had a lot of differences in opinion," Sharma said, "The way he saw the story and the way I understood it as a director was different. Then, I brought in other writers Shailesh Verma, Shaktimaan (who wrote Gadar) and Krishna Raghav. Raghav did all the research."

This apparently did not go well with Salman, though Sharma says it's only natural for the falling out to have happened. "We are making a very difficult film, so there were differences. But now it's all sorted out,"Sharma said. He had been promoting the movie, but it was just that he hadn't been going to every event. "Frankly speaking, I don't believe in promotion. If the film is good, people will like it," he said.

Much of the research of the movie was inspired by watching other movies. Sharma said, "Salman wanted us to watch Taras Bulba, which was released in 1962. But we couldn't get a copy of the film anywhere. But they made a version in Russian, which was released last year (2009), and we watched it all together. Salman was so happy that at last we'd watched it that he ordered hundreds of candies and ice-creams for the crew."

Veer is a story about a man and his son. "Taras Bulba was the story of the father, played by Mithun Chakraborty in our film. Veer is about the son, Salman Khan. But the father-son relationship theme is common," Sharma said.

Katrina Kaif suggested Sharma to Salman as a director. Sharma says the two movies have little in common: Gadar was an emotional movie while Veer is for youngsters.
